I really want to try my hand at doing face ups, because at least one of my Resinsoul dolls is very subtle. Your video is very clear on what to do, but I one question. Do you prep the face before you paint and stuff? Like most tutorials I've read say to spray with MSC or something before you draw and paint or else it wont adhere. I see you spray matte on after a layer, but it's the starting layer I'm confused about. Thanks!

Hello! Thanks for asking - that is a very good question. After wiping off the old face deco, I do spray a matte sealant on top before doing the makeup. Any paint/pastel/pencil will still adhere to the resin head without the spray, but spraying a matte finish on top ensures a consistent surface with some "tooth" to it - almost like a paper surface. Some BJD heads are a bit TOO smooth right out of the factory, which makes it a bit slippery and hard to apply pencil or pastel. Also, MSC is just one type of matte spray/sealant. There are other brands you can use in case it is not available in your area. I can vouch for Testor's Dullcote (which is also cheaper than MSC). People in the BJD community don't like Krylon, but sometimes that's all that my local hobby store has 😆. I hope that explanation helped. Let me know if you have any more questions!

@MJHsuArt that's definitely helpful. Yeah, I have some Testors at home from other projects. MSC seems to be the goto...yet i hear it's highly toxic even compared to other sprays and it's sooo pricey. It's good to know there's options.

He’s so cute! I’m here bevause my UFdoll just arrived, so i’m planning what to do with my face-up i was wondering if you have considered putting the eye files you made, up for sale? I also have procreate, so I’m going to be making my own, but other folks might want to buy the ones you’ve made to print! But i do also understand keeping stuff that are your own style for yourself!!

Sorry I took a while to respond because your comment gave me a lot to think about! I never considered selling my eye designs but now I think I might! Thank you very much for the suggestion! 💝

@@MJHsuArt haha my comment was very messy because i had a bad migraine. As an artist i’m always looking for passive revenue options and things like selling printables is a really easy way of making money from your art 💕
