The fact that you mention their names tells me they won't be forgotten. Also Björk likes Beyonce. Look up Bjork dancing to Crazy in Love! Beyoncé may not be your cup of tea, so YOU can't really speak on where she will be decades from now when you never gave a shit in the first place.
@NKA239 жыл бұрын
solarge knowles Nope, that´s actually wrong. There were many artists who were famous at their time, but were forgotten later and only academic people know about them today. Sometimes it´s the other way round, like with Vincent van Gogh or H.P.Lovecraft f.e.. Back at their times, almost nobody knew them and respected and admired their work. They died being poor and lonesome. They became famous long after they died and today everybody knows their name. Lady Gaga is certainly a great perfomer and and pretty talented too, but she simply isn´t Björk. There´s something very special about Björks music, she doesn´t only have her own style, but a unique style.

From the far distant planet Bjork is from, somehow a woman can hit and hold a note for 15-18 seconds in pitch, and I had to go back and check that three times to be sure. Whether you even like her as an avant garde singer and artist, that is some real talent on display in this song.
@orirune30798 жыл бұрын
+roninreturns While Bjork is indeed an amazing performer, that long note is digitally extended. If you listen carefully you can hear that it is actually a shorter note repeated four times, and if you watch the hairs blowing on her head you can see that the video is being played in slow-mo. None of this detracts from Bjork, but this in particular is a very skillful edit.

Bjork has such amazing talent. I wish her songs were played on the radio more often. I am sick of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj, Taylor Swift and that "Let It Go" song (Sorry Frozen fans) being played on the radio all the time. They're shit compared to Bjork. Her music is so passionate, symbolic, meaningful and inspiring while other pop singers these days just sing about sex, boyfriends, and getting high or drunk. Sorry for comparison, there really is no one like Bjork at all.

KyleDances Did you read my entire comment? I said her songs are symbolic. If you don't get it, let me explain. Singers like Miley Cyrus sing about sex as if they only want sex. Bjork on the other hand sings about something more than just sex. Also, she sings about sex in a symbolic fashion. And I'm very aware that her latest album Vulnicura is about her breakup with Matthew Barney. I happen to own the new album. At least she doesn't make him sound like a horrible person like Taylor Swift does.

The Reason why Björk isn't played on the radio more (or at all) even though douche bags of the like of Katy Cherry, Miley Virus, Rear-annal, Justin Beaver, Kayne Pest, Piggy Azalea, John -New- Oldman, Moron 5, Lil' Whine, etc. are played until you're piss them is pretty obvious & indeed insidious. *1.* She's too good. - Sales dip for everyone else when a good artist emerges, coz'.. well.. everyone else is shit!! (Not literally! But a lot of them are!) *2.* Her songs are too profound - SO MANY people's lives have been gobbled up by the system of 'distraction' & 'greed' that they haven't the ability to understand the potential of life; & music's intimate relationship to it. Hence why the Billboard is an endless stream of banal sex anthems with a constant over-use of bass is compensating for a lack of innovation. *3.* The duration of [Björk's] Art is longer than Airtime restrictions - POP products are always mass-manufactured with a set duration of 3 minutes, 3.30, but never over 4 minutes. And even though staying power is a gifted rare talent... those that claim to represent the very BEST music do not recognise this aspect to art. There's LOADS of pathetic parochial rules such as the 15 second vocals rule, simple time rule, 90% major scales rule, etc. But these are the main 3. When ever you disapprove & speak out against this decline of opportunity for genuine artists on the celebrities mentioned above, you are met instantly with this: "If you don't like it, don't listen to it". I not only listen but I dislike it. I voice my opinions & reject this cultural darkage we're in now. You all need to do the same if you want a better & more diverse future for music. Trollollollollollollo!

Amen to that! Too much art for the feebleminded. Let us listen and rejoice that we have the privilege and opportunity to experience what will never happen again in any lifetime. I'm glad she happened in mine.

Luciano Gutierrez Check out James Blake & FKA Twigs though.. they are pretty amazing at creating genre free music ;) British too!

I already have my friend. Twigs is bending some rules isn't she! If you haven't already, check out Austra, Grimes & Animal Kingdom.

+Luciano Gutierrez I know of them too! Not bad but no one shall ever come close to her. I think the circumstances for creativity have weaned. I saw a post yesterday by Geoff Barrow of Portishead who tweeted "Now that I've gradually realised there's no money in music any more, I'm going to start selling Tweets instead. 3 for £10". Sad. Yes, I'm using my music channel to reply to you if you wanted to support me bring some creativity back into music!! I have 2 instrumental projects: The Top Secret - Prog-tronic genre defiant shit! Heart Beatz - Urban Hip-Hop shit! I use NO copy & paste tho. ;) Peace man ;)b

I like watching other talented artists try to sing her music, and never quite getting it right. Their little failures are more of a testament to Bjork's vocal range and timing than a criticism of any other artist.

It isn't just the vocal range, it's her presence. It's that slight awkwardness and vulnerability of hers that's mesmerizing and endears people to her. The way she moves on stage together with the amazing voice makes her so unique.
