Would like to share this sick experience with you all. My ex texted me and I said I had nothing to do with him. His response was' why? Are you with someone else now? '. I told him that it doesn't matter if i was with someone or not , I do not want him to text or harass me . His response was ' If you are with someone else then I will stop . ' Matlab this sense of ki ye larki mere saath thi, i have some kind of ownership to behave however I want until someone else comes and claim her. Ye sick mentality rehti. Toh kya hi ho sakta?

dont know if it is just a south asian phenomena but a sense of possession is always associated with women in this part of the world. Words like 'swami' used in old times by women to call their husband literally means 'Owner' , phrases like 'humare ghar ki ladki' etc also denotes the same, the same phenomena gets manifested as 'Tu meri h' in young indian men.

We lost the day women were paraded naked in Manipur and there was a mere outrage. We lost the day Bilkis Bano's rapists were garlanded . We lost the day when the Hathras case happened and people just watched. We lost the day when the wrestlers were punished. We lost when we did nothing when Revanna was expised . There is a rot way deep in our society and it may take generations for any change to come. But for as long as people are poor , their mind stays lazy and all they care about establishing supremacy of their class, sex , religion or whatever , we will continue to suffer. Rape is a tool . I know you all are familiar with what happens to women during war. Many soldiers abuse their power . How can we change things when we say that killing is bad yet we make weapons of mass destruction and hand it to someone and justify it if it is done in the name of glory? Blows my mind . The problem is not religion, gender or class. The problem is human and her/his inhuman tendencies . Thank you for reading if you have arrived at the end. Hope you and I can be the better woman/ man .

I usually love your podcast but I hated this . The whole whataboutry and the unwillingness to accept that TMC govt and its supreme leader had both home ministry ( police ) and health ministry (hospital )failed in doing a transparent and just investigation . I know you are not fans of BJP but please don’t support this sort of nonsense in its name . And yes though it’s not just about a doctor being raped but at the same time , a doctor is a person doing his/her job and he /she should be protected by state while doing it and rest room ( not toilets ) should be built and allocated for the different genders . the talk about “apron “is meant to say that women who are blamed for being rape because they wear inappropriate clothes but in this case she was wearing apron ( hence she was dressed appropriately) Yes , TMC has highest no of women MPs and also to add a women chief minister but what is the point of this if they don’t handle this kind of cases appropriately and instead transfer the Principal of the college to save him , the best thing should have been to suspend him temporarily until he is cleared by appropriate authorities.
