In some ways I dont think Todd ever really recovered from that moment seeing Blair with Patrick. He never went back to being the man he was becoming pre Ireland after that. He had a bitterness to him from then on. I still loved him just as much as ever just saying theres a different difference from that point on.

This was the very first episode I watched! I remember flipping the channels and came across the scene where Blair and Patrick are making out on the floor and Todd opens the door. I thought it was so naughty that people were having sex on TV. LoL I was only 11 years old and I was hooked on Todd Manning right there! I stopped watching when I started high school. It's been nice to go back and watch the whole story! Thanks, @bjujubee!

and i love Blair, and Todd. but, facts are facts.: Patrick wasnt into Blair. he felt SORRY for her. she did repeatedly throw herself at him and told Marty *patrick is with me* blablabla. No, he wasnt with you, Blair. FWB. I've been there. there's a difference. there was no chemistry, partly because this thing was one-sided. ok, there was chemistry, on her end. Not only because she's a terrific actress, but because HE just wasnt that into her.

Blair has Todd's picture face down on the table while Patrick is there. I don't care if Todd was gone for 20 years, Blair should never have even considered Patrick as a suitable mate. Todd took 3 bullets to the back and was driven off of a cliff because he tried to help Patrick.

The problem here is Blair never ever would look twice at a guy like Patrick. It's crazy. He's some out of work poet who works at a stable. He's boring & has no drive no money no nothing. So shoving Blair & Marty to fight over Patrick to prop him when rh was gone was awful forced & sorry but Marty & Blair could do much better. Sadly the best chemistry Marty ever had was w/ Todd. I'm talking pre rape their sparks & chemistry was there way more than her w/ suede. It's too bad Micheal Malone didn't see Todd at the time as any more than a means to an end in redeeming Marty but how crazy that it became about Todd & his past & his evolution way more than the Marty arc. In some ways Todd eclipsed everyone on the show & Marty's main fame became her saga w/ Todd but Todd could & did exist w/o Marty. So in such a strange way the show was looking for two things a man for Marty as sh was an excellent young actress & the new young male lead in general as guys like cord & max by 93 were not the 80s studs they once were. It's nothing offensive to either actor at all but they were the young studs matched in a very different decade of the 80s whereas when u look at Todd & Marty they epitomized this new 90s grunge angst serious decade. So they had an equal for Marty & a 23 year old new male lead but blew it by making him the leader of a freaking gang rape. If u watch the early Todd scenes he's pushy & obnoxious but u never get some creepy rape vibe off of him at all. That's why when Todd first enters w/ his 2 buddies Marty is really not threatened at first. She even is laughing & just saying Todd's drunk & as the scene of course goes on it gets more terrifying. Anyway sometimes I wish the writers saw what they had in Todd earlier but I guess it took the rape & Todd going from evil to us seeing his first moment of remorse ( suede 's death) for Todd to organically be so powerful a character. Anyway it sux we didn't get a tnb reunion. They didn't even kiss for godsakes. Patrick really was such a nothing character his only legacy later became his kid w/ Marty who knocked up starr. Which oltl honestly after like 95 went downhill but I'd say was truly awful post 2003 ish & that's really cutting it close.
