I’m Ghanaian and so I understand the traditional sense. The other side is that the whole thing of women carrying their husbands last name had another origin. Back in the day women were property and our last name would say who our “owner” was sadly. So that’s why they would take their husbands last name. Obv there are other reasons but that was one.
