Ah, New Year 1980, not knowing what comes down the line, in the end of '89. None of us back then would have imagined the end of the Cold War, dismantling of the Eastern Block & USSR. Its a real reminder that we don't know 10 years from now - plus its a really great song.

Two reactions in a row, thank you, you've really made my Sunday! This song is actually sort of a new years anthem here in Sweden. It''s often played on the radio and other artists perform it live around New Years. Abba performed it on Swedish TV as a new years special back in -79 ( I think). I remember watching it, such a great memory!

In Eastern Europe this song IS a New Year Anthem in some circles. Especially for the lines in the 3rd verse that can easily be translated to the fall of the idealism of communism and the Soviet Union. I live in Sweden, the birthplace of ABBA, and I have been to many New Years party where this is played just after midnight.

After all these years, that first chorus gives me goosebumps--very happy goosebumps. This is one of my favorite Abba videos. Great heartwarming song too. No one does it like Abba!
