If you had spent only a couple of minutes in the company of BKS IYENGAR within seconds you would have realised that you were RIGHTLY in the company of a MASTER of YOGA, an AUTHENTIC and GENUINE GURU of YOGA. But you would have realised also that you were completely wrong in assuming that BKS IYENGAR was whatever negative opinion you might have had of him (if ever). I myself was of the opinion that he was a man VERY DIFFICULT to APPROACH and VERY SEVERE. BUT I was wrong. He was GENTLE and SOFT as butter, SWEET as HONEY, REFRESHING AS A GENTLE BREEZE, an EXTREMELY HUMBLE person. BUT he was an ARDENT and an ADAMANT practitioner of YOGA. He was a man who had dedicated his WHOLE LIFE to YOGA, a COMMITTED and ENTHUSIASTIC GURU (teacher) and a SUPER-EXPERT of YOGA, and NATURALLY he VALUED ONLY YOGA that was associated only with THE GENUINE PRESENTATION;

I never got to starting yoga. In my youth I purchased "Light on Yoga" but must have dropped it on way home in Delhi (this is pre-metro era in Delhi - I am an old man now). Even as a reckless young man I had realised Iyengar Guruji must be really good. I plan to start learning now from videos and books. I don't have an Iyengar trained practitioner nearby and frankly could not have afforded one.

@@Seryogaji Thank you my friend Sergey. Kindly send me some links I badly need to practice the body part of yoga ( yoga is not just the body, you would know because you replied to me out of compassion ... imagine the irony I am a born Indian and love my culture - I love humans more than I love my culture - but I need advice from a non-indian about Guru ji Iyengar, who was geographically much closer to me ... spirit belongs to no place ... at present my friend Sergey Guru ji Iyengar is closer to you so I seek your help as if I were a blind person asking to be hand held). I have excellent internet but for some reasons I am terribly depressed and sad to the point of suicide. I remember that I might handle my life if I get my body aligned well. So I started listening to Guru ji Iyengar ( hope somewhere his soul is staring at me with his scruff no non-sense compassion and you took pity on me: thank mother nature I am not a bit vain or proud to beg for help BUT HELP SO THAT I HELP MYSELF AND MY FELLOW HUMANS, I am NOT asking anyone to sort out my life while I remain passive, I will prefer to kill myself if things get to the point where someone else has to bear my butden in addition to their own): then it occurred to me why not ask for help in comments. BTW do you know when as a young man I purchased "Light on Yoga" I was so excited to and surely would have started off: a friend was with me that Sunday when in Delhi near Daryagunj there would be a used books sale on Sundays. That friend told me let us take a look at the red-light area/district of Delhi which was nearby, just to see how it looks like. So I went with the friend to what is now named "Shraddhanand Marg" ( previous generations would know it as "G.B. Road"). So that place has dark narrow stairways going straight up long without any place to stop. I remember a lady sex worker noticing a small nap sack on my shoulder and calling me "you with the bag come up" (it sounds funny in hindhi or urdu than in english). I remember feeling too superior to her, thinking what does she know how brainy I am and how much girls love me. I think that thought must have ruined my chances at Yoga (kindly recall the true meaning of Yoga). From the corner of my eye I saw someone sort of charge at me. I turned and it was a policeman about to hit me with a long stick (police back then would extract money from the lady sex workers by making potential clients hard to watch them so abviously the stairway which paid would get more people to stand beneath and with a higher footfall chances of business are better: police is as usual in such parts of the world a machine for extracting off any commercial activity ... they can bullshit themselves into thinking that they "help" maintain law and order ). Reflexively I ran away and I believe (factually I never checked) at that point the book dropped off my nap sack. Spiritually I believe the thought that I am superior to a lady sex worker made Yoga inaccessible to me for some 25 years now. Such is the power of thought, in Zen Buddism they say "an inch of a difference and heaven is separated from hell" ... that inch is in our intentions (not even thought ). So after decades I am seeking one more chance to complete my Yoga, the body part is where I am badly down. Will you or someone help me please, I have nothing but good wishes to give in exchange ... try buying good wishes with all of gold and you will realise how "expensive" best things in life that don't need gold are. If someone helps I will surely be indebted: I will still love people even if their selfishness is too big to help me with getting right advice quick. I really don't like it when humans don't convert short sighted selfishness into altruistic selfishness. In many ways it is so easy yet it is tough too, I know because I am an old man now.

Friend Rajendar, I know you said it out of love and I love that you love ... "greatest" would not be an adjective that Guru ji Iyengar himself prefer. And knowing a bit about Indian culture saying "greatest ever" is bound to fail. This is an old old old culture ... may Allah/Ma Kali bless all humans ... and forgive my transgressions.

Гуруджи говорит : He was a physician and he was a surgeon.
@Seryogaji6 жыл бұрын
@Polyglot-fj6ro6 жыл бұрын
