There's something so addictive in the sound of the big tyres rolling over the terrain, resonating through the carbon frame. Great video.

It's one thing to ride it in reverse. Brian could do this, given his fitness level. However, Braydon's goal was to CLEAN the entire trail, which is really a completely different beast. Like how "riding" Slickrock vs. "cleaning" Slickrock. I've cleaned all but one or two sections of Slickrock Trail, which puts me in the rare minority of riders. Everyone else who "rides" it walks a LOT of the trail's hardest sections. Additionally, Braydon made it even HARDER for himself by limiting himself to brute riding technique. If he had instead used trials technique, he could have mastered The Snaggle in one or two tries instead of FIFTY TWO attempts! That said, he cleaned The Snotch in like four tries, which is beyond impressive. This is what made his attempts even crazier. Complete insanity, if you ask me. He's a total beast.
@turntabillist

@@dudeonbike800 8600 FT is required viewing for every mountain biker out there! ;-) Yeah, I was wondering why he wasn't just "trialsing" a bunch of that impossible stuff. Didn't know he intentionally avoided using trials technique. Watching him spend a whole entire day practicing on the snotch made me realize how often I take the easy way out in life, lol!

I can't believe you rode the snotch section. I just did that the other day and ended up crawling/sliding down that section. It is so much bigger and steeper than the video makes it seem haha. This trail is a meat grinder. Don't let the elevation profile deceive you it is intense. I just rode Kokopelli to Porcupine Rim and into town, it was in the upper 80's, and it took me over 4 hours and I ran out of water and had brought 3.5 Liters with me.

I'm not one to typically take the time to leave a comment on a video. But, I felt compelled to today to let you know how much I enjoy your videos. Skiing (both resort and backcountry) are my primary vices, but I started mountain biking two years ago. I found your channel this past summer and have been watching religiously ever since. While someone like Remy Metallier might have more intense riding videos, you are still my favorite MTB channel. Your sense of adventure, your transparency and genuineness of both the good and bad while on the trail, the hardships and suffering of challenging rides, and your constant kid-like joy and laughter while riding are what keep bringing me back. You inspire people every day to get outside and enjoy the natural world around them. You're one of the most refreshing personalities on KZbin and I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your videos. Keep riding and I'll keep watching :)

Great video. I don’t know who would talk crap on this trail or any other trail for that matter? The MTB snobs are annoying. A good trail is the one you enjoy riding. This trail is epic, even lesser trails can be great. Arguing over shit like this makes the MTB community sound especially narcissistic and entitled. How embarrassing. Go ride your bike and find another way to stroke your ego.

I've met so many "elite riders" that seem to just hate on EVERYTHING and it seems so weird. But, I also try to give fair critique to trails I ride, and whenever I say that something is lame or not worth doing it always ends up hurting someone's feelings. My goal is to give people ideas for great rides that are worth taking vacation days for. I would hate for someone to see one of my videos and think it was a great place to ride and then end up hating it.

What PSI do you keep your tires at for a trail like this? I’m new to mountain biking and still learning. Sorry if this has been answered before.
@bkxc
@bkxc Жыл бұрын
This kind of hard, fast, rocky trail I usually go higher with PSI around 28. But that depends on weight and other factors. Low PSI feels amazing and you'll have great traction UNTIL you smash into a rock and pop your tire or break a rim. High PSI feels kinda crappy and you have less traction, but it keeps you from walking!

Thank you for your wonderful videos. I really enjoy “riding” these mountain trails with you-on my stationary bike-with my Oculus headset, watching you on the KZbinVR app. It’s really odd, but when you’re riding uphill, it seems harder for me to pedal, but when “we” are going downhill, pedaling is so much easier and faster, lol. Amazing what VR does to your brain! Have you ever considered filming in 360? Please keep up the great work!

This is a top quality video of Whole Enchilada. Your confidence on that insane SNOTCH is enviable. Total commitment and you rode a perfect line. Actually, it was as if the terrain was riding YOU if that makes any sense, lol! That impossible switchback turn seems like it can only be cleaned using highly advanced trials skills. My guess is less than 1% of riders can do it. Maybe 3% can complete that whole section as well as you did. ;-)

Cool video. Watching, I realize, I no longer even want to do this ever. Too much getting beat up (bike and rider) by all the rocks. I watched a video of a guy doing 100 miles of the White Rim in a day. That I could imagine if I really got in shape, but not the WE. That said, I disagree that the easier trails in Moab aren't worth riding. I rode Upper Porcupine once without doing Lower Porcupine. Hell, just being up on Porcupine Rim on foot is special. And I love the MTB trail system at Deadhorse Point. Even they're nobody's idea of 'epic', they're still a lot of fun (for me anyway) and the views are jaw-dropping.

The part no one ever talks about is just how significant the climb up Burro Pass is and the effect it has on the entire rest of the ride. It is a ferocious, hard climb and if you're not prepared it will make the rest of the trip miserable, if not dangerous as you get into it. As you mentioned, it's not just a free for all downhill for 30 miles from the top. There's still a lot of uphill along the way and if your fitness isn't up to the task you could easily find yourself in over your head.

Mountain bikes easily climb into the $1000's so don't expect this to be a topnotch product. kzbin.infoUgkxHL1v1R3NE5x4KiYfyt8dnQmyNYz7qi5L That being said, for the price, it is an excellent bike. Bought 2 of them and one came with a missing part and the other needed a replacement pedal after 1 month of use. Luckily, Schwinn is an excellent company with excellent customer support and both problems were resolved reasonably quickly. The bike is just a bit too tall for someone 5'7 but not un-rideable. 95% of the bike is sturdy although the suspension is lacking. For the purposes of easy trails and street riding, it's great.

"Only" 25 psi? What tires are you running? I assume in the 2.35" - 2.5" width range, right? (14:40 confirms 2.5" Assegais.) THAT explains why your videos always sound like you're running really high pressures! Because you ARE! Dude, at your weight (I assume 160 +/-), you should be running considerably less than that. Probably 16 rear and 14 front. I'm 210lbs., riding 2.4" tires and running 20 rear and 18 front and haven't bottomed out or damaged a tire, rim or wheel in 1.5 years. (My rides have consisted of lots of redwoods, Donner Pass & Truckee, Nevada City, Soquel Demo & St. George. Haven't gotten the new Ibis to Moab - YET!) I could see bumping pressures up 2psi for TWE just to be on the safe side, but I'm thinking you're running pressures way too high for your weight. PS No gloves? You're incorrigible! Ha, ha, but you wised up at The Snotch! Nice job riding it!

When I start running 16 psi in the rear and I blow out my rim five seconds into my ride can I send the bill to "Dude On Bike" in the KZbin comments? 🤣 I ping my rims constantly even at this high air pressure, I think I'll stay where I'm at!

@@bkxc unless my pressure gauge is WAY off, I can't see how you're having these issues. Unless YOUR gauge is off! Who knows! Sure, send me your wheels, I'll rebuild 'em!!!

Nice riding. If you use a hydropack, you won't have to worry about water.

I absolutely loved Hazard County and UPS! Most of the ride I loved, haha. It was super wet that morning, so Jimmy Keen was the thickest muck I've ever been through! Little sad the road to Burro Pass was closed when I did it, but probably for the best. I barely made it down as it was ;P ..like, literally. Almost fell off the cliff into the gorge, and once I got back to the sidewalk in town my back tire went flat. Still 10/10, would do again when I upgrade to a Canyon bike!

Yup 2017. I've gotten to do it since too and it's gotten a lot easier for me as I've ridden more.
