Black afgano has been one of my favorite scents for years. Sweet, resinous with a dry wood to balance it out. It goes sweet on my skin and the cannabis note is not really cannabis, it's more like an old school hashish for sure. I find this scent to be extremely relaxing. I wear it at night and to bed. It's like a sleepy time tea for the soul. You are spot on for your review. Very well done. I don't think I could of described it better myself and this is a fragrance I have loved for Many years now.

Bought it last month while on vacation in Napoli and I have been,since then,struggling with it.I am giving myself time to smell it,little by little,but gosh I am having a hard time.A lover of Terroni,I thought this would be a piece of cake but not.I dont mind too much how dry it is but its greeness (it’s a dark greeness)is something that puts me on the verge of my tolerance.It would be interesting to smell its sillage,but putting my nose to where I sprayed it 30 mins ago,it is an eighty percent pass

I loved reading your comments Gabriel because it reminds me of my similar experience's with other of Alessandro's fragrance's....these are mad genius creations that over time, seep into our skin and we fall deeply in love with. My recommendation is spray the fragrance away from your nose. So nothing around your neck or chest. Spray on your stomach. And only 2 sprays. This will give you a slight sillage of the fragrance and will slowly tease your nose. Your comment about what you think it smells like to your nose and what others are smelling is a real thing with all of the Alessandro fragrance's. And yes, there is a deep 'greeness' to this fragrance, but it's wrapped up in a chocolate woodiness, the sillage is divine. Good luck my friend! Would love to hear how you go with this in about 3-4 months time

I'm genuinely in love with niche perfumery and am enjoying this connection with everyone on this subject💫 Give it time....you'll be surprised at how much your 'palette' and nose has changed (even to the point that you'll ask yourself, what was the big deal!😂) Just put that Black Afgano somewhere safe, in the dark and return to it in a years time. In the meantime it will continue to evolve and macerate in the bottle giving you a wonderful rich scent profile when you finally spray (you can thank me later😉) Great to connect with you👊🏽

This is a lovely fragrance I really enjoy my bottle. I just bought Music Festival from MM and I’m kind of getting a similar smell not in a bad way they both have some slight differences of course Nasomatto using higher quality ingredients but if you aren’t a collector you probably wouldn’t need the other

This is very intruiging! You indeed have a way of storytelling! I agree that any gourmand notes can be relaxing. I also find that the scent of leather relaxes me too. For some reason I can get away with wearing a clone of TF Tuscan Leather and sleep even better than when I wear a straight up Lavender fragrances. 🙏

This one is great to have it just for the sake of admiration to the artistry behind it. Having smelled hashish and other similar aromas from other herbs, this perfume smells like the cheapest weed you could find in late 90's 😀 which it isn't bad, but probably that association makes this perfume a pass for me (Daniel here 😀) Other than that, the blend is done to perfection.

Great to hear from you David....it's an awesome fragrance; have you had a chance to test this already? I find that everyone has their own 'spraying routine'. I like to spray only 3 times (sometimes 4), I have a sensitive nose and more than that overwhelms me. However I know some friends that spray 5-6 times. I also find that where to spray is just as important; you want to avoid going 'nose blind' to the fragrance. I always wondered why Alessandro created a companion brand in Orto Parisi, but now I think it was so that he could create a fragrance line with more punch...more 'Beast'; as I agree that the Orto Parisi are way stronger I don't know if it's my imagination but I find the Nasomatto more complex and have more nuances than the Orto Parisi....your thoughts?

Great to hear from you Daniele, and great question. For me BA is still uniquely niche, regardless of its notoriety. I would say people 'know of it' but there would be few that can actually detect it in a fragrance line up. Plus I find that all of Alessandro's fragrance's play differently on everyone. Yes the scent profile of the perfume is there, but the perfume has a unique nuance on the wearer. If you're in the US or Northern Hempishere, I might steer away from BA if it's going to be too warm on the day of the wedding. On me, I find that I enjoy this fragrance best as an evening fragrance (even during the warmer months) and the perfect fragrance for the cooler months of the year. Good luck Daniele! I mean like 2 or 3 am, when the world is sleeping and there's no one around, all the small ways and the water flow will make you think you're not in the ordinary world anymore, it's like a "secret world" like narnia, trust me. Also. You review both boccanera and BA, I own both and can't decide who is darker and more appealing for people. Though about it?

I love love love how you work a development of mind to olfactory descriptions , however in Black Afgano you're are over complicating it. The weed isn't really a thing in this fragrance,,, its back there.. but it's really about the darkness (in the scent in the mind?) that occurs with acceptance of a hashish experience. And, I think, this is exactly where fragrances are going now a days... it's not for every one, just because functional olfactory acceptance is highly specific and hopefully therapeutic. Strong stuff like Naso Matto and Orto Parisi as well as Zoologist, Franchesca Bianchi among others work towards these ideals in nasal therapy.... we are just entering the times that science intersects with public passion as olfactory science calms the mind and uplifts the body. Lots more to come as fragrance is so important now....

That could be true, or you’ve just gotten tolerant with the scent. Try giving it to someone whose does not wear perfumes and see how they react to it..

@@TheNicheFragranceCollector i do get everything as you’ve described it. I guess the reference to hash here is the same as when a fragrance house labels their perfumes as narcotic in which its an irresistible scent that keeps you smelling the back of your hand throughout the day.
