Db = 6th string - Tune half step down from E to Db Ab= 5th string - Tune half step down Db = 4th string - Tune half step down Ab = 3rd string - Tune half step up Db = 2nd string - Tune 1 step up B to Db Db = 1st string - Tune down from high e to Db Then capo on first fret! You can play without capo if you can tune your strings to DADADD

From the videos I've seen, John plays his acoustic guitar with no fancy effects. The lead electric guitar has some reverb and delay for the intro section and distortion throughout the whole song.
