I have to give my 2 cents (lol) I had this hotel reserved and living so far we got there late. We put our things in our room to grab a pizza (2 AM) got our pizza and headed back to our room, as we opened our door my friend walked in first and as I turned around to close the door there was a roach crawling up the door on the inside to our room. I don't think I have ever packed my things so fast in my life and got out of there. We went the front desk and told the girl and after arguing with her she finally gave us our money back. that is when we found a room at leconte . I understand that it will happen anywhere you go but I did not want any critters sleeping with me. Thank you for all you guys do.

You do such a great job "showing" the rooms. Thanks for doing these reviews so we have information to choose accommodations. Tip: Pack a flat queen or king sheet to use as a couch/chair cover Takes very little space in suitcase and you know it is clean. Lol

I believe that was a Clarion when built and was bought out by current owners. This place was flat out gorgeous when we stayed there years ago. It’s a shame that a lot of these properties are being bought up and not being maintained. Great review thanks for sharing.

That's an older motel and when first built had a different name. It was very nice back then but was very expensive in July. Alot stayed there so they could watch 4th parade from balcony. Its changed names and probably owners also. I love a clean room. I'm not staying if not clean!! Thanks for review!!

Good decision! Wish we'd left when we stayed there in September 2021. The pool was broke down and being "fixed" half the time we were there. The hot water was sketchy. The best part of that place was the balcony. We were facing the strip, would've been terrible if we'd been placed the back of the hotel staring at the parking lot and broken down poolhouse. 🙃

Having just stayed at a terrible motel in Pigeon Forge, Riverplace Inn & Cabins at 3223 Parkway (Next to the Red Rooster) Room 120. I'd love to see more from reviews along that corridor. I'm not gonna smash this place because maybe I was caught in a perfect storm of awfulness. I'd LOVE to hear what you think.

Wow we always wondered about that motel we stayed at the Bearskin Lodge on River Road and they have big rooms , outdoor pool and lazy river they own the Appy Lodge also and some more but it cost more than the Appy Lodge but it was worth it , we stayed there on there 20th anniversary, thanks for showing us this one y'all God Bless

Need to try Jack Huff's motor lodge, I highly recommend and its location is the best! If you want your own Balcony just ask them and they will try to accommodate you, we always stayed on the non-pool side.

We only booked one night at the Inn and had booked a condo over on River Rd for the rest of our stay in Gatlinburg. The Inn certainly needs to paint and lay down new carpet which would be a big help. so glad you all did this , i booked a room there for a week for my parents ( in their 70s) they wanted to stay on the strip and be easier for them to walk up and down the area etc with their health issues i went by the pictures online , boy i so wish their were more videos and reviews a couple months ago. , this place was a nightmare for them , mold , no hot water even after letting it run forever, when my mom went to use the microwave the tv shut off so lol you couldn't be watching the news and heat up left overs , also no breakfast half the time and no coffee half the time , they had to walk over to crockett's to eat , keep in mind this is not on the list for vacation and out of budget planning for seniors...but my parents are also diabetic and need breakfast to go with their morning meds , they just wanted a decent vacation together yea know they were so excited , well they went to the guy at the front desk over the hot water and the tv and microwave issue and he was hateful and shrugged his shoulders and said i don't know what to tell ya , this was back end of march first of april , they would not give their money back so they had to tough it out till friday came , the rod in the shower was falling off and my dad sent me pictures , the mold and holes on curtains , said the bed was sliding if is sit on it , no room in the bathroom , said another family there was very upset about no breakfast for him and his kiddos the next morning , but my mom said housekeeping woman was amazing she worked so hard and they left her a big tip and said she was the best part of the whole place ! i have even contacted the owners and they said they have never had complaints and would not give them a refund and infact stopped emailing me back . i was just upset they drove so far and had to deal with all of that , even if they just did half a refund that would of be helpful or something , my dad got very sick on the way back home from there and was sick about 2 weeks and had to go to a couple different doctors ...i have noticed on trip advisor they are getting some bad reviews now ...check out the fb page this hotel has its full of misleading details about the place, beware everyone ..and thank you for this review to help save possible nightmares for others when you save up over a year for a trip , no one wants a nightmare , big hugs

What a horror story. So sorry to hear your family suffered through this. Of course we can’t guarantee great experiences, but if they make another trip to the area have them check out Riverhouse at the Park. We stayed there for years before moving here. Once you have experienced Riverhouse, no other motor lodge/hotel/motel feels the same. THE BEST!! I've been a fan of the Riverhouse properties since the 1970's. My favorite, of course, was the now gone Riverhouse Motor Lodge on River Road. We always started our first nights stay at Riverhouse before lodging at a Chalet off of Ski Mountain Road. Just a tradition for my family. You guys really know the best of life. Enjoy and keep doing what you do! I'm living it all through you guys.

My family loves your reviews! Please go stay at Valley Forge Inn in Pigeon Forge. We've stayed there several times and never had any problems. For the affordability they can't be beat. We also love Margaritaville Inn for the location and ease of walking to the Island, shopping and dining.

The hubby and I were the folks you chatted with at Crockett's. We stayed there in the 2000's when it was a Clarion and it was just ok back then. When it changed to the Black Bear they started some up grades and I was hopeful, but that just turned into patches. The last time we stayed there bugs were in the light fixtures and everything was just a bit gritty. Bob would not dig it! It is a great location, we loved to walk to the Smokey Mountain Brewery. So happy you turned us on to the Riverhouse! Can't wait for you to go to the Lodge at Five Oaks!

Hey there!! It really depends on what you look for in a hotel. If you don’t want modern and are looking for affordable and clean I would say Riverhouse at the park in Gatlinburg. If you want modern and want to splurge Margaritaville of course. Somewhere down the middle I believe is edgewater in Gatlinburg. We haven’t tried many but those are our suggestions but I believe Bob from all about the smokies has his top 5 hotels video and he has tried wayyyyy more then us oh and we also enjoyed greystone

@@SmokyMountainFamily hi! Will give you a idea. If you get one of the pocket or purse size (I have) ultra violet light, when you go in a room don’t turn lights on. Especially the bathroom, shine the light on the floor, tolit, walls, bed sheets, spread, walls, carpet etc. you will see all sorts of stuff you can’t see by eye. Be prepared to run for your safety. Maids merely wipe off, clean tolit, but very little other.

Would the hotels and inns there let you go in and look at a room before you decide to rent it? I know they used to years ago when I was a younger and our family would travel. Might be a question to ask the next time you stay some place. The walls of the shower looked like it had dark areas on it, maybe it was just a reflection from the mirror or lighting?? I would have been afraid to look under the beds. Lol! 🤣The stains on the red chair were really gross 🤢Looks like they could have tried to clean it. I totally knew what you meant when you said it smelled stale. I have used that term too. It looks like that place could use a lot of improvement. I wouldn’t have stepped foot in the pool either.

If you decide not to stay somewhere how do you get your money back? Every place tells me I can't get my money back. And the pictures online are when the place is new. I could show y'all pic of a hotel near me that looks great and today I wouldn't even stop to tie my shoes there.

We rarely don’t end up staying it has to be bad for us not to stay. The last one that comes to mind is riverchase and we didn’t get our money back most of the time it’s like that

We have family and friends in quite often. We do hotel reviews and let them stay at the house. Of course most of our time is still at the house

Some of those stains are just from the washer and dryers that the hotels use. My wife use to be a housekeeping supervisor, and she use to have the girls come back in and change those sheets to make sure there are no stains. Everything you guys are pointing out is unacceptable, goes to show people don't care about how they clean. When we go on vacation before myself and my two kids go into the room, the wife goes in and inspects the room to make sure everything is the way it's supposed to be. It's kind of funny to me but she was a supervisor in different hotels for 15 years and knows exactly what to look for. Those chairs and pillows that are on the chairs they don't wash them, because they can't they just wipe them down with sanitizer wipes. Those curtains should have been washed or replaced, because no excuse for mold being in the room at all. They need to retrain those maids or replace them in general, plus the fault can be placed on the supervisors as well for not double checking the room. I would give this place a -10.

Why did we not ask for another room? Did you not see the condition of the rest of the property? The hallways, pool, hot tub? The room was just the tip of the iceberg at this hotel. The better question would have been why didn't they offer another room, but I think the answer to that question is obvious. Thanks for watching.

In my opinion those motels are so old and they don’t want to do the upkeep on them because they think people are going to stay because they’re right on the main drag amongst the attractions that people will overlook it. They just want to rake in the money and pile it, I guess they figure let it sit there they’re making money anyway
