What that bear did was called "bluster." Bears do this as a way of communication to other creatures that they're scared of. They don't want to be bothered, and the bear was telling you he didn't want to be bothered. It's his way of saying, "Leave me alone. You're too close to me." Black bears do not attack after doing this.

@@marcialussier2467 if they appear to yawn or click their teeth it’s an indication of a bear that’s escaped captivity. It’s been trained and is most likely performing for treats. @@marcialussier2467 no kidding like really. People that know nothing about bears have no idea. A black bear ( so cute and cuddly) if they attalk you most likely will start eating you alive. If someone is being attacked and you try to run it off they can, and have gone into a killing frenzy and attalk anything that moves. A grizzly may rip you up and move on. Black bears generally eat you alive. Polar bears are an all together different story.

Yeah he’s a fed bear, garbage can Larry the fat one. Just yell at him, he might go away, probably not he’s fed and expecting you to feed him. Heck, maybe you were the one feeding him. Either way he won’t hurt you. He’s like an annoying squirrel that tears stuff apart in your yard because he’s human fed, that’s why we put our garbage out thirty minutes before pickup. When you live with as many beats as I do, we know to keep them wild, or you get spoiled fat pig destructive bears. I just had a mom and two cubs come in my deck an hour ago, I’m deep in the woods though, I just yelled at them and they haven’t been back, yet.

@@paddlefar9175 You sound, triggered, a real trait of insecurity and ignorance from your part. I never killed an animal, but I've had bears and pumas kill big prey in my back yard and a shotgun levels the playing field against jaws and claws. When it comes to life and death, I don't play nice with spray. I love animals, but wouldn't hesitate putting one down if it can kill me, and tries.
