I know what you mean--I was hoping for his signature look too. But I think it is important to remember that he is no longer with Ciel and is living in a different place and time. Maybe this is the way the new owner prefers him to look. Why, I can't imagine but everyone has different tastes. You must also remember that his original hairstyle was very anachronistic for the Victorian age. Lady Francis certainly pointed that out when she came for a visit! So maybe his weird hairstyle now is also meant to be anachronistic, to remind us that he doesn't fit in with humanity. Or maybe he is just not very good at choosing the right hairstyle for the right time period! He did seem to have a little trouble understanding what was normal for a human after all.

marthaba In fact Rurouni Kenshin was pretty...pretty similar, to a big extent, not only alike, it was very very acurate. So yeah...Oh and where's the fantasy? Everyone complaining about Sebastian's line when it's actually the exact same one from the Anime lmfaoooo, the difference is that whoever subbed this, translated it to a similar meaning. 'Cause the original Japanese word can be translated to more than just one sentence.

*nerd glasses on* Originally, the line was intended to be "I am just a butler"- which in Japanese romaji reads 'aku made shitsuji desu'. When preparing the English print for Volume 1 of the manga, Toboso altered the romaji to 'akuma de shitsuji desu', which (although pronounced the same) is translated as "I am a devil and a butler", which was further altered through interpretation to eventually become "I am a devil of a butler" when the volume went to print. It can be seen as a kind of inside joke- one can assume- as this meant (when reading the romaji) Sebastian is indirectly telling everyone he is a devil. This line became consistent thoughout both seasons of the anime's Japanese dub- Kuroshitsuji. It was only when the English subtitles were added that the line became "I'm simply one hell of a butler", which (as most of us will come to be comfortable with) was used in FUNimation's English dub of the anime- Black Butler. *nerd glasses off* ... you know, these aren't even prescription glasses, either... just for effect...

Am I the only one who actually likes this movie for what it was and didn't care about the differences made in this from the manga and anime? Because I was confused at first when watching this movie, yes- but after I found out everything about how this was in a different time frame and who the main character actually was, I didn't mind it anymore because it was still fantastic nonetheless. Plus.. I don't care what anyone else thinks, but in my opinion, this Sebastian is really hot.

This movie really isn't as bad as everyone thinks. I just finished watching it and the only flaws I can think of is that Finny and Baldroy aren't in it and instead of her name being Mey-Rin she is just Rin. But I think the plot is actually better because of the reason for the killings.

mabel boone There are reasons behind why this movie was made as it was as far as cast and time setting goes, and it's been explained on sites and within the movie itself actually. One can't go into a movie thinking it to be just like the anime as expectations will be too high and you'll most likely be disappointed...as I've seen a lot of commenters are. It just doesn't work out that way as there are obvious limitations when you go from anime to real life people. I felt the movie was fitting in the Black Butler universe and was a great watch, but that's only my opinion.

Those who are saying that "Ciel" is played by a girl, the character isn't meant to be Ciel, nor a boy. The character is actually a girl disguised as a boy named Shiori/Kiyoharu.I am not sure if this is a redo or a sequel to the anime but I am sure that the character is not Ciel. For all people that's been complaining, no this isn't Ciel Phantomhive this is actually his great-great-granddaughter. So that's why "ciel" is a girl and her family name was different. Even the story was quite different. The maid, Rin, was Meyrin great-grandchildren (Meyrin was Ciel's maid) that's why she was saying something like "I'll protect you as what my family always did" And Sebastian, well he is a demon. He once again involved in a contract, and witnessing Ciel's great-great-granddaughter suffered just like Ciel's did. Edit : Yes, sorry for bad grammar

I was worried at first since this will not be the characters we already know, but it looks pretty good. It makes sense that Sebastian would change his form a bit for a new owner and a new time. I would love it if he looked like the manga/anime character come to life but I can live without that. The important thing is that it looks like he can BE Sebastian--I mean, how many folks could pull off those fight scenes? The story looks very dark and interesting. Being squeamish of movie gore I am hoping it won't be too rough. Overall, I am looking forward to seeing it, whenever and however I get to. I have the darndest feeling our local theatres won't be showing it :(

What a lot of you aren't seeing to get is the face that Ciel is a demon now and Sebastian is a demon who changes his appearance to suit his master. It was said in the anime and the manga so I think it's perfectly fine the way things were done in this. It can't be Ciel who has the contract because he's a demon and sebastian can be the sebastian he was as ciel's butler because it's not the same master.

Ciel never became a demon in the manga. He only became a demon in Season 2 of the anime (which was never followed up as the anime went back to adapting the manga for season 3). Even if Ciel were a demon, at the end of Season 2 Sebastian swore to be his butler until he ate Ciels soul (as ordered by Ciel). Therefore, the contract never ended.

I have mixed feelings about this... of course the prospect of seeing a live action Kuroshitsuji is exciting, and the actor playing Seb is hot-- but the setting of the original is so deeply "Victorian England" that it just comes off completely different when done by an all-Asian cast. That and Ciel being played by a woman... I know he was voiced by a woman originally, but she had pulled off a convincing enough boyish voice... but being played by a woman? That's going too far... she absolutely looks like a woman, not a preadolescent boy... [EDIT: just read in the comments that it's not meant to be Ciel... not sure how I feel about that, either...] it doesn't feel like Black Butler anymore... the only thing that would make me watch this is if there were some BL-ish scenes with Sebastian and Grell...
