Thanks, Biff!! Every now and then I get a "wild hair"...lol!! Not my forte, but it's fun to try and be a little "creative" from time to time! :-D

"A reset for my mind and body" No way to say it better. I've paddled now almost 15 years and still feel as giddy as a 10 year old every single time I shove off.

You get it!!!! Absolutely!! I did a trip last Saturday and didn't record it so that I could focus ENTIRELY on just enjoying the trip! Oh, and I've only had my boats for about 7 years, so I'm glad to know the feeling never goes away!!! :-)

I used to get on that river several times a year decade after decade. Now I feel lucky just watching you super nice people getting to see it the first time. I'll see if Brandon has one of the 14 ft Jackson kayaks to sell, or I may rent from him. He is a good guy, and it's time to float the Black.

Thank you so much! Yes, Brandon is a great guy! He messaged me on Instagram and invited me down and I'm so glad he did. I will absolutely be back- what a beautiful place!! Several of our crew were from Mobile and one said Red Creek is a good trip, too. There's some good paddling in Southern Mississippi that I hope to check out soon. Thanks again!!

I know the struggle! This crew got connected on social media over the last few years and came from all over Alabama (from near the TN state line to Bham to Montgomery to Mobile). I have some local connections too, but these bigger trips tend to be just having everyone meet somewhere and do a trip!

Man i am jealous how you can kayak all year around & I can't . " LOL" It looks like an awesome trip man. Wish i was there because I haven't been on my Kayak since July & that is extremely to long for me. The weather looks really nice & sunny too. It looks like you had to put on some sunblock on you ? P.S. Dan question buddy i am looking for some water shoes for my boys to wear when they have to walk in the water. Just curious what kind of water shoes are you wearing? They said they would like to have some water shoes. I wish i could get me a pair but they don't make them wide enough for my feet 🦶 so i am looking at a pair of Chaco sandals. I talked to a guy who was a big dude like me every bit of 300Ibs with very wide feet 🦶 & he had on Chaco sandals on with the toe loop on them & he told me that they make them in wide width & since I have very very chubby fat wide toes not to get the toes loops one. The guy couldn't believe how fat & chubby my toes was Especially my big toe since it's over 2" inches wide. The guy had wide feet 🦶 but not fat wide toes. But i did like how the sandals fit on his wide feet 🦶 though. I remember you having a pair but i forgot Why you did not like them. I am trying to get ready for this year of kayaking. Me , my 6 boys , my lil brother , & his son we all pulled out our kayak & looks them over while it was 80° Degrees outside but very windy with 30mph wind. It was a teased for me man. Good video buddy thanks you for sharing this video.

Hey Mack- It is great to get to go as much as I do, but know that we appreciate the men and women that keep our country going by moving freight!! It's a thankless job, but you are appreciated!! I hope you and your family do get to enjoy some trips on the water very soon!! As for your question, I think I had NRS water shoes on this trip. They are a great brand. I know you have to find what works and some like the Chacos...which I have, but I prefer either neoprene shoes or velcro sandals. Comfort and easy on & off!!

Those change up sequences in the song starting at about 7:30 were cool. People that have never edited anything have no clue how much time and work goes into something that they think is cool, but to most people is just something simple. That took a good deal of time, I am sure. Shan asked me last night why I didn't add in pics to the video of our podcasts? I was like, well each pic takes about 10-15 minutes of time to add to the video, by the time I search for it, send it from my phone, download it, then import it, and finally edit it to fit...and I just simply do not have the time for it. I do good to get out a simple, pretty much straight cut, on most days! "GoPro stop recording"...So did you get the voice activation figured out?? Looks like an awesome trip on a cool creek! I may have missed it, but were y'all hammocking. or tenting?
@SouthernPaddler
@SouthernPaddler 5 ай бұрын
LOL- you know the struggle!! Every time I start a sequence like that, I always ask myself, "Are you sure you want to do this???" It does take so much time and there's been plenty of times I wanted to do something similar, but wasn't brave enough to actually start it! Wes, Dawn and myself were in Hammocks. The other 4 were in tents. Hammocking seems to always be the "X-factor" when looking for a place to camp. I need get more comfortable using my tent. The voice command are the same on the 10's that I have except that you can't turn them on with voice like you could on the 8's (not sure if 9's had that). I had to buy remotes to be able to turn the cameras on and I use the remotes to turn them off most of the time. It also has the benefit of not subjecting the entire crew to, "GoPro- turn off/on" or "Gopro- start/stop recording". :-)

@@SouthernPaddler I just got through editing the last of the podcasts from th Swamp trip. And I added some close up shots from GoPros that I had stationed around. It took FOREVER to get the timing right on each clip. 🤦🏻‍♂️

@mountainsmoore3657 I'm looking forward to it! I watched the one last night where you had audio issues at the beginning. It's amazing how much difference those mics make!!!

@@SouthernPaddler Well…it is the mics, but I also have an entire audio board setting in the canoe that records the audio separately, then I have to upload it and sync it with all of the video clips. Takes a while, but I am learning. 😎

Great video! Do you have any Southern Paddler shirts for sale? Also, great ideal using kayak paddle for canoe. What length/ cm is your paddle? Thanks!!
@SouthernPaddler
@SouthernPaddler 4 ай бұрын
Thank you very much! No, I've not attempted to have any shirts made yet, but I hope to do so this year. My paddle is maybe 250 or 260cm (over 8ft). I like the longer paddles and it's almost a necessity in a canoe as you sit higher and they tend to be wider, but kayak paddles help you cover a lot of water and help you fight tough winds when in a canoe!!
