@Altars_of_Mattness I think you nailed it there. Their sound is like this massive black hole that perfectly straddles black and death and just sucks the two of them into its vortex! Class work as always by the way.

I personally prefer the term war metal or bestial black metal because when I think of blackened death metal I think of Behemoth and Belphegor, plus I think it makes the bands to seem like they're more death metal when I think Blasphemy, Revenge, Conqueror etc are more black metal

I’ve included all facets of Black / Death here, as a sort’ve starter pack for everything to do with it. Behemoth makes it into here, but so does Blasphemy. Best of every world. I get what you’re saying though, if I was to separate them, then I’d be a bit more specific with the terminology. I verbally say all that just to clarify that they’re not the same in the vid though.

Great video Your passion shines through I’m old, when Sarcofigo released their debut it was considered thrash Probably falls under Deaththrash as the song says If I was talking Blackened Death Definitely have Immolation in the starter pack and Incantation But they are a bit similar Had a long chat with. Jon Mcnee 2 years ago. He definitely considered them Blackened Death along with Deicide and Immolation If it was defined musically not so much but thematically and lyrically. Love Dissection❤ I have a tattoo of the cross logo on my back. Advent Sorrow “As All Light Leaves Her” is a good starter album for DSBM. It’s a little more digestible than Nocturnal Depression.

Great starter pack for Blackened Death Metal Matt! This style of Extreme Metal I haven't listened to much at all, except for Behemoth. I like thier later stuff, but I really should check out their early stuff. I never quite understood what Blackened Death Metal was honestly, like how much Death Metal is even in it? Most of these bands I know of but haven't checked them out, I really should as they all sound like I would enjoy them. The only ones I didn't know were Mobid and Teitanblood. Dissection are great, love Storm of the lights bane! Nice one man 😁🤘🤘

I’ve pretty much just lumped everything with both Black and Death Metal together here, but for example Morbid would not be put into the same category as Blasphemy if I was to be a bit more specific. Some bands have way more Death than others for sure. Necrophobic, Morbid and Behemoth for example. Definitely check out Teitanblood as well man. Absolutely devastating stuff! @Altars_of_Mattness Ahh ok I get that, all these bands mix a blend of Black and Death Metal in some form. Some mix it different than others, that's understandable. I guess that's what makes it interesting and makes each band different. Yeah I'll definitely check out Teitanblood, they sound cool. You're welcome mate 😁🤘🏻

Great list but wonder why so all over the place with dates. Was it a plan or just a chaos. It could start with Sarcofago, Morbid and Blasphemy to put the roots in place I guess.

Just chaos, I always just throw in a handful with no chronology to it for starter packs. Don’t like these things to be too uniform, or it’s not quite as fun to make!

I've tried with Blasphemy and Beherit - just cannot get into it - I find that war metal stuff unlistenable ( I love my gore grind and some find that unlistenable lol) - hence time has come to list my Beherit on eBay - bye bye haha.

Very understandable. But with Blasphemy, only really Fallen Angel of Doom got that raw. The album after that, Gods of War, imo is more memorable and much clearer. Even the demo before Fallen sounds cleaner for some reason. I like Fallen, but Gods of War is a cooler album. Early Beherit is pretty much Blasphemy worship, but their first album has like two fast songs. Rest is pretty much doomy weirdness.
