I am fascinated by this video. I believe that how your life experiences determine how you age. I say this as a 72 year old Black woman. I have aged and don't look like I did at 20.

this is such a good video! so pleased my youtube recommended came through :)) I absolutely used to be someone that glorified young adulthood - even during my teens I would stress about the time slipping away! at 22 now, I regret that I didn't just enjoy it at the time. in 2024 I'm looking forward to looking forward rather than looking back!

Looking young= beauty ???? But " black don't crack" has nothing to do with that. That expression did not start with Beyonce or Angella Basset. There are beautiful white women that stay beautiful as they age but we can still clearly see the deep wrinkles and sagging much earlier and thay does not prevent them from being beautiful. Yes Black don't crack, not because of the beautiful black celebrities but because of any black people living in most white countries that can tell the difference between black people and white people aging. We look much younger even as we age. We all have first notice that by looking at our parents againg vs our white frien's parents. And they noticed that too. " Your mum is 50 really !!!! No, you're kidding me". We all heard that. We overall age way more slower. Black people in Africa don't even use that term because for them it's the norm so it's no big deal, it's nothing special it's just how it is. But when you leave the comtinent.... when you live in Europe...in America.... Even white people see it and can't deny it. They can never tell our age and are always amazed. With that being said.... a bad lifestyle will definitely impact the way you age. Smoking, drinking, stress, processed food lack of sleep and any srunk can definitely make us crak and I am sure we all have noticed it. The same way Asians overall also age slower compared to white people and it has nothing to do with them looking good or not.

This is really cool and I’ve thought abt this for sooo long. Older women are having such a good time after 30 but the pressure isn’t abt the quality of life it’s like oh, but how do u look?

Honestly can we just stop pressuring people (especially women) to look like teenagers their whole lives and perpetuating the notion that teenagers = most s3xuaIIy attractive age group… it’s gross

this came across my main youtube page, and i gotta say I should've dismantled this idea a long time ago. and in your video you're 999999% right. and it makes 0 sense to have this idea that "black dont crack", when it do. i also think that there is a negative placebo keeping people from embracing their life past 30, because they feel like they have exhausted their beauty and stop chasing it and thinking that they can STILL take care of their appearance, and especially the way they dress. thank you for your video!!

I am so glad this came onto my algorithm, you got a new sub for sure 🤎! I’ve said this on another video a few years ago, but it’s worrisome that most don’t see a problem with women from about 10-19 and 30+ being pressured to look like they’re in their 20s. It robs too many of us of our joy, in addition to the problematic issues it causes for society.

I’m so happy u enjoyed the video! I think the sudden push for everyone to look 20-25 yrs old was what inspired the video topic.

I just came across your channel! And you’re so right! I’ve been dating someone older and honestly aging is okay, it doesn’t actually impact your life as I used to think it did. And all the features of aging are just the roadmaps to your life, all you did and have done. Great video!

I LOVE THIS. I teach a Theatrical makeup class in a college, and we spend 3 whole weeks of the semester on aging projects. My class has a full online component (where students can watch videos on topics I can't fit into the F2F class, and this video has already gone onto their list for the first week of aging, right after they have the explanation of why white people get so very wrinkly when we age. I show off my wrinkles (I'm 64) in class to prove how cool they can be when you move them around. I also emphasise (through my later demos on beards and nose wax) that you can use ageing techniques on all sorts of character makeup (one is a broken nosed witch with green skin, indigo shadows and wrinkles, and neon yellow glitter highlights). In nearly every class I remind them they all have different types of faces, and "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR FACE!" This anti age, anti realness obsession with heavily processed beauty, is so much an unrealistic expectation, and destroys the sheer joy of makeup, which is for processing yourself into a completely different being for a few hours, for drag, or a theatre character , or a cosplay, or a fun halloween party. Makeup should be to joyously play with your face for fun, not to hide the shame of aging or "imperfections" unless people are literally discriminating against you in a job because you have a scar or mark or something that x#57@ idiots treat you poorly for having. Other than that, makeup should be for whatever gives you joy, not for "fixing" something "wrong" with you. You are beautiful, and I love that you are helping others realise that they too are beautiful, with or without makeup. Thank you!
