What is amazing about this stupid woman, she wants more black children for political interest. What about the quality of black children? @@jonathandrake8640 I am glad that you bring up evidence. I think that people like Loury and Swain and Sowell are otherwise intelligent, well read, thoughtful thinkers right up to the point of their religious views. They then toss out everything grounded in reality and switch into fantasy mode. If any of them could show any evidence of the 'truths' of their religion, I certainly would like to hear it. Until then I would rather listen to folks like McWhorter and Hughes who deny superstitious beliefs and remain constantly in reality. Swain is a case in point, her beliefs in the supernatural drive her opinion on gay people and to show any sort of inclusion of that group is to deny christians a place. Her assertion that colleges are putting the most flamboyant gay on the pedestal during orientation is no more a matter of fiction that is systemic racism. You don't get to just claim it, you have to demonstrate it. While Loury agrees with her, at least he pushed her for examples of what she was referring to which she largely danced around.

My first reaction at Dr. Swain’s praying for Jared Taylor was to think of her as a “Pollyannish” Christian - but I immediately recalled a story about a nun’s cry during an attempted attack on her by an axe wielding murderer “God, this man needs help!” Also the forgiveness of the survivors of the church shooting a few years ago. I may be agnostic leaning atheist but I have to respect someone who’s sincerely tries to be true to their faith.

Although I'm from a different country, most of my life has been spent in the UK and a number of years as a young boy in Guyana, THESE are the kind of people I remember looking up to, stoic, thoughtful, authoritative. Of course, I didn't understand logic and, in contrast to it, emotionalism, but when I watched in the last few years, people of my own race preferring to exhibit the latter, I was pretty disappointed. Some people might call that self-hate, because it would appear that I am demanding higher standards of behaviour from my own race and giving other races a pass. But, in my brief experience of the schools in Guyana, and the general attitude of older adults in the neighbourhood, and from older relatives that were here in the UK when we arrived, we were held to very high standards, so to me it seemed natural that, generally, others would hold the same standards.

I believe that Christianity has been a detriment to black and brown people. Luckily the numbers show that more and more black people are leaving religion. As a black man people assume that I’m a Christian because of my background. I actually grew up near Roanoke College . Now I live in a predominantly black and brown neighborhood and I know that I’ve been treated differently because I’m an open atheist. I wish that one day humans will be able to separate from religions and trust in themselves.

Chris Martens with all due respect my fellow human. You’re making statements that move the burden of proof on you. I can assure you that I have no religion. I was shocked to hear Glenn and his guest make several statements as though their statements are the “gospel”. I’m a very good example to refute that all humans have some sort of religion, not me. I also wouldn’t fall into the woke classification. Just a human who tries to think critically. While listening to Glenn I’ve heard several assumptions. For example the professor said that she was sure that she was treated differently because of her beliefs, but I’ve also heard Glenn say that one shouldn’t just assume racism because they experienced something. I didn’t finish the video, but from what I did hear. I didn’t hear him say anything about not making the religion discrimination assumption. Like I mentioned before as a open black atheist living in a predominantly black area. I’ve been treated differently because of my lack of religion.

That bit about how they don't want her success in life from low beginnings - to be a positive example; it doesn't follow the victim narrative at all. Carol destroys the victim narrative. Their outrage, and justifiably from their point of view, is that someone like her threatens the Victim industrial complex. A lot of money and a lot of jobs are at stake. Victim-panderers are the overlords who need victims to process. Without them, they have nothing to do. And what appears to get lost in all of this swamp-think - is the very idea that anyone anywhere who actually is or has been oppressed, can rise above this and become an autonomous individual. By being exposed to strong leadership and the inspiration of accomplishment.

Glenn probably will never see this comment, nor Carol, but just to clarify, Jared Taylor's *main* focus isn't on relative intelligence (statistical, not individual or "all"), but on different peoples NOT getting along harmoniously, overall, generally, with exceptions of course, some very famous. On the intelligence question, he would argue that OF COURSE there are brilliant Black people, like Glenn, like Carol, many others. And that there's plenty of overlap in the middle. But it's not exactly equal overlap. These types even have a word for that, Talented Tenth. One other professional intellectual White racists who are a bit stronger than Taylor, wrote "get a Black friend". He said, one, for enjoyment of friendship and commonalities, two for basically cover. I would add that a BIGGER overall social factor than intelligence is the disdain for and hostility towards schooling. Whites had a similar anti-nerd viewpoint, but for Black people learning means submission to "white education" and especially "white teachers", even when most teachers in a school system are Black.

Probably one of Glenn's videos that I most enjoyed. I do not agree with a lot of things I've heard Glenn say or that I heard Ms. Swain say. That said, I listened to the whole video. and I'm a regular Glenn watcher. One thing, there are others, I like about Glenn is that he is good at playing devil's advocate. But, I feel that from what I've seen he mostly interviews like minded people. I'd like to see more interviews of him with people who really are not, and who are not 'playing' devil's advocate to see what happens when he gets real push back to his ideas by people who are as passionate about their thoughts as Glenn is about his. I don't see why people get so upset when people like or dislike certain groups, people, food, music, places, etc other than what they like because of various reasons. It's like Coleman Hughes said in a previous interview with Glenn which was that he does not think there will ever be 100% equality. I just think that when you consider mankind totally agreeing, everyone falling in lock step on everything all the time this is just not going to happen. I was very happy to see lots of analysis of white people in this video as so many times I find Glenn and McWhorter, Glenn and Huges, etc do in depth analysis of blacks but superficial analysis of whites. Finally, Ms. Swain may be an expert, well, is an expert on white nationalism as she proudly stated, but she is not the only expert on the subject or maybe I'm missing something. Looking forward to the next interview. I might even watch this one again. A final word in reference to my mention of Coleman Hughes and equality. Ok, it may never happen, but I don't see why all things being equal, 2 people doing the exact same job, with the same qualifications, work conditions, experience, etc that one should be getting paid much more than the other- pay gap.

Fascinating conversation . My mind is blown. So happy to have found your channel. Challenging content for me to absorb from Carol M. Swain; Almost unbelievable but I am intrigued to read her books.

Glenn: "I'm not endorsing everything you're saying. I'm not countering everything you're saying..." Yes. This. The exchange of ideas - thank GOD while that freedom lasts!

I ordered all of the books that were mentioned in this episode. Most likely, I will order more mentioned in previous episodes.

My book shelf is completely full. Books move over and make room for Swain.

Can you expound? I’d love to hear your thoughts

@@freeindeed8416 I’m flattered, but I don’t know how interesting my thoughts are. Dr. Swain strikes me as earnest and extremely intelligent, not like so many right wing grifters (i.e. Rave Dubin). I definitely disagree with her strongly on many things, but I’m glad to hear an intelligent person try to justify those positions. I think the obsession with left wing hypocrisy/excesses is out of proportion. No ideology has a monopoly on crazy lol. Dr. Swain isn’t crazy though. The part where my eyebrows really went up was when she declared her respect for Jared Taylor. Maybe I should hear him out as well as a matter of principle, but I’m definitely not there yet. I am totally unpersuaded by that worldview, and life is too short. Let’s mingle with those who think/look/act differently from us, not cordon ourselves off. What do you think?
@freeindeed84163 жыл бұрын
@@pauljarski7590 I generally agree with her. I think that her message would be particularly beneficial if put into practice, especially for the black community. Being black myself I really get offended by the identity politics espoused by many on the left, especially when they ignore the individual. I think that her approach might weigh a little heavy towards the logical for some. Many times people tend to examine things emotionally. As far as Jared Taylor, I’m certain that I disagree with him but I’m going to check him out all the same. There are some arguments that he presented via Dr. Swain that seem to have merit. I do feel that there are double standards in this country that should be addressed if we want to deal with things honestly

@@freeindeed8416 I definitely can respect and share your distaste for identity politics. It can be quite offensive. However, I hope you realize that the adherents of this new religion, whatever it’s called, are a diverse group as well. I think most of them are well-intentioned, misguided people who don’t want to infantilise or demonize anyone. Their problem is that their worldview makes them see demons even where none exist, so from their perspective they’re being rational. Let’s not make the same mistake by treating such people as a monolith. I’m sure you know all this, but I think it’s easy to lose sight of, especially when people behave really badly. I’m curious which of Jared Taylor’s arguments, conveyed by Dr. Swain, you find meritorious. Coleman Hughes remarked during his first conversation with Sam Harris that Taylor makes the mistake of racial essentialism, same as the so-called woke left, but after that initial mistake his reasoning is sound. It seems to me that if you construct proper arguments based on false premises, you really haven’t put forth proper arguments. And some of Taylor’s conclusions are quite frankly repugnant.
@freeindeed84163 жыл бұрын
@@pauljarski7590 Thank you for the reply. I don’t intend to lump them all together. I think the difference between those woke extremists on the left vs those on the right is the fact that many of the things the left say are actually put into practice in some form. Things like changing high school names, or the Coca Cola be less white deal or the Dr. Seuss ban in Loudoun County, Virginia. These are extreme ideas. In reference to Mr. Taylor I’d have to disagree. I think that a argument bases in false premise can still have some validity. For example, the black people being shot by police argument. I think that Dr. Swain mentioned something about double standards. For instance a white person does something to a black person it’s a big deal. A black person does something to a white person and it’s hardly a story. I don’t agree with him genetically but societally he has some points.

Glen, I would love to see you in conversation with Jared Taylor. Despite any personal disagreements with the man he does as your guest here says have some very intillectual and cogent points and it would be very useful in this ongoing conversation to hear someone of your equal intellect but differing in opinion trade thoughts and ideas. I believe he is endorsed by the hateful but he may be something altogether different again as your guest stated. Great talk again... Love your work

I think they would agree on a lot of stuff. He's the least hateful person you could imagine. I happened upon him a few years ago and he completely dispelled the myth of the 'white supremacist' but rather exemplified someone who values tradition and community in much the same way Loury (and many others) does. Clearly we have a media who poisons the well for many thinkers that keeps people from listening to them.I've never heard Jared utter anything remotely rude, unkind or spiteful. Same goes for hiding people like Sowell, Williams etc. These are all well hidden gems by an establishment that seems to want only one perspective on everything.
