I think you've touched on something here that really illustrates the difference between most groups of three and invaders. I see it with my friends who got into these games with Elden Ring where they just want to see big numbers and the win screen. Meanwhile, I enjoy the game because there are a million different interactions like this that you can pull off and the game does reward you for figuring this stuff out. It really seems like most PvErs are here to get to a destination while most invaders are there for the journey

sure, but you still have meta goblin wigglers that ALL have solitude set, spiralhorn, duped golem arrows, starlight shards, shamshir, zamor CS, bhs on a thrusting sword. Zero creativity, "optimal" cookie cutter builds that they copied off of their fav youtuber and only care about winning. theres even invaders that legit just spam sword of damnation and when it doesnt work they run around corners and use zamor ice storm, just like the L2 spamming pvers. ive spent a TON of time doing both invasions and co-op with randoms and let me tell you, invaders and co-opers have a lot more in common than you think.

Last taunter's tongue run I did, at least 2/3rds of the invaders I got were using either Rakshasa's Katana or the backhand blades with some variation of solitude or verdigris set. The experience soured me to the Rakshasa's katana despite initially loving the design and moveset.

@@Ritten-77Because invasions are so ass that invaders who actually want to win need to pull all that shit. The difference in mentality is that you don’t invade with the idea that if you outplay them you’re supposed to win. You just invade to get cool interactions and if you lose, tough luck. Some people play PvP to try to win and invasions make those people into shitters because it’s too hard (almost impossible) to consistently win just by being good at the game without leaning on any of the broken things.

I understand why people play that way, an im not saying its bad, or good either, its just the type of person that wants to win will play a certain way, and its not exclusive to co-opers OR invaders. both might watch yt vids for builds and both do whatever it takes to win. that being said, i'd be lying if i didnt use ice storm or black flame tornado around a corner a few times myself lmaooooo gotta do what ya gotta do once in a while

So the thing about weapon buffs that come with a status effect is that they make it so any ash of war that comes with a “bullet” or a projectile will also apply the buff you gave yourself. So the lava on eruption will of course be able to apply extra blood flame or black flame, but you can also use stuff like flint blade phalanx or flame of the redmane which is pretty cool. Not sure just how many projectiles you can do this with but yeah.

Another fun interaction is that if you're using a weapon with innate shield pierce like the shotel, vulgar militia's shotel, or reapers, then projectile AoW will also gain that shield pierce property. So say, a shotel with storm blade is a decent way to chip down turtle builds.

The Black Flame used to have the power to slay the gods themselves when the ruler of the Godskin Cult, the Gloam-Eyed Queen, wielded the Rune of Destined Death as its original bearer. However, Maliketh defeated the Gloam-Eyed Queen and stole the Rune from her, thus becoming the Black Blade.

​@@ironsalmon784no it isn't, network connection is outdated, people playing on worse consoles or pcs will have worse connection, people will have fluctuations, and the wave timing was consistent anyway Wave of gold is just very very poorly made skill that can mimic high latency, lag switches are so so SO incredibly rare because they're tedious to set up and you might as well just shaft your connection entirely or use a separate network than set up a system to shaft your main one only sometimes

Ok I haven’t seen anyone post about this but I love the black flame shit and accidentally found this out, if you use black flame ritual(ONLY IN THE DLC AREA) and spin the camera very quickly, timed with the cast, you can actually make the ring much smaller. It takes very little practice but it’s possible. Charge it and spin and cast, then quick cast and spin again for an insane area of damage. Someone please capture this on video and prove me right

As a BFB lover I want to point out that if you crouch first and then use the spell right after, you get the max spell cast speed version (sorta like using catch flame or carian slicer after jumping/attacking/etc)

I've had similar thoughts as yours regarding eruption with black flame blade. It would be awesome if it lasted longer, but then everyone would start using it. I've been having a lot of fun with it on a stance build using rellana's cameo, especially with unsheath and wing stance.

I believe BFB lasts 7 seconds, up to nearly 10 seconds with the Old Lord's Talisman. It's a very noticeable difference. BFB requires a very particular playstyle, but can be quite fun and effective. Unfortunately, it does not play well with two-handed builds; the short duration of the buff means the time wasted swapping between one-handed and two-handed is not negligible. To get the most out of it, you'll want a weapon that is both long and fast, in order to maximize the number of hits you can make while the buff is active. The health drain debuff does not stack, but each hit will refresh the duration, and the buff also adds a chunk of fire damage to each attack.

Destined Death is, if I'm not mistaken, what Blackflame was before Marika claimed the rune of death from the Gloam-eyed Queen. It's what made the Godskins so very threatening to even the gods, and might be the whole reason they do what they do. I'd probably skin gods if a core part of my religion was stolen, literally.

Old video and very late post for it I know, but no, Destined Death does both the HP cut "and" the dps, and it's dps I'm pretty sure is better than the black flame dps by a small margin. Also pretty sure the dps stacks with black flame incantations as well as with matching Destined Death equips like the dagger AoW.

Black flame blade on a light greatsword is super fun! Multihits get good effect, but its not a paired weapon and tedious to 2 hand or swap the offhand after casting, and its still very good regardless of the buff

I have been saying literally since the release of Elden ring that they just need to stop buffs stacking multiplicatively. Then after that just nerf some things in small ways that are still hitting too hard. It would solve how ridiculously "one-shot"-y PVP in this game is. All the stupid one shot builds are just the best way to beat the game easily. The player is never incentivized to actually learn the combat loop, because it's faster and easier to just throw some ash or spell that does 10 bajillion damage with the right buffs.
