LADIES, BE CAREFUL... check with your OBGYN. We should NOT be using " mint/menthol" anywhere near our vaginal area. Not HEALTHY or safe. I think what’s most of the problem is that when we like a product that works for us, it is sold and the formula is changed and it does not work like it used to . While securing the bag is admirable personally, it will not be Black owned anymore. It was built up because of the target audience.

Black owned companies that reach a high valuation almost always sell out. Esp. those owners who have NO children. Most of them should not 100% sell out, but keep a % of the company. She retains a small share of the company!

The original goal and mission always changes when it comes to money. Acquisitions would be great if done with fidelity. But most often, these OTHER companies do not uphold the values that the owner intended. Once they get a hold of it, the brand is watered down until it exists no more or is trash. Examples; FUBU, BET, and others We understand she wants the wealth, but if you started so that women could have NATURAL products for women why change when you KNOW the product will be compromised once it’s handed over. As they say “all money ain’t good money” Tabitha Brown gets it…she doesn’t compromise when the big companies come knocking Some things should be held onto for LEGACY; your next generation will inherit something that they can continue and pass onto their children. But we can’t see past the money they offer! Just sad…in my opinion!

Sorry to hear that. She needs to take that money and form security and cyber security companies and keep those companies. All the big corporations that formed without struggling against segregation and discrimination (or actually benefitting from segregation and discrimination) have the ability to take over minority ownership. Had there not been segregation and discrimination, this woman would have been the owner of Coty IN THE FIRST PLACE. Do you see UPS, FedEx, Verizon, GMC, Boeing, US Steel, etc. being taken over by any minorities? NO!! A takeover like the one described in this video is still the result of longstanding racism that put the power and control in the hands of white corporations.

They will lose sales. "Black" business owners have to remember who helped them achieve that success. If "black" people patronized them it is not necessarily from having excess money but in the spirit of supporting "one of our own". It may be how other cultures do things but those same cultures are the reason why we have so few successes. Keep this in mind.

I think it's great in most ways... the issue I have is the quality ALWAYS changes when they sell to a non black company. IMO I always wondered/thought they wanted to ruin or change the positive image and association you had to the products because they ruined it. I mean that is what they do buy companies and destroy them for one reason or another... not unusual at all.

I don't know about that blanket "Y'all", but this is one reason why supporting businesses mainly because they are "black-owned" is sometimes disappointing when they become " successful ". I remember when FUBU was acquired. Good for her and her family but that " get the bag " mentality is pervasive. The "people" made the company a success, so there's that. It's not really black wealth. It's white Capital calling the shots. That's why she sold it. Bait and switch. It's all about the community until white capital shows up. Just saying...

FYI, i can't stand shark tank they show their stripes of racisim all the time. For example... they called sis with The Lip Bar a pretty little cockroach. Guess what she's slaying without their "expertise." Sorry, every time they acquire our stuff, they degrade it. I get what you're trying to imply but still not supportive. Now, if CODI was a black controlled entity, I'd feel this was maybe a good move. The intent may be to get rights to ALL her passion projects, hard creative work, reformulate it, rebrand to the world, and then run Honey Pot in the ground, then she's out. I really hope she kept some things in the pocket for herself, jic. Basically... run that company in the ground, extract the best, exclude the rest and eliminate the competition. You all can back flip and cheer all you want but it never pans out well for us (as the black community who built and financially supported these companies to success), in the end. For, example BET after it was sold in 2001 the programing was changed for the worse and those changes impacted generations of viewers for the worse. The Johnson family did extremely well but the masses were affected by the more negative visual messaging. We'll always lose out with integration, one step forward ten steps back. The only way we can ensure success is to band together as a unified people and be "the CODI" and that's exactly why "they" are going after entities like the Fearless Fund seeking venture capital specifically for black women. The Jewish community has done this very well for decades. So yes, playing the long game is imperative, we have to think bigger before we "sell out."
