BLACK GOD, WHITE DEVIL - 4K Restoration Trailer

Glauber Rocha's sophomore feature is a scorched-earth allegory about the blind followers of dead-end ideologies. Somewhere in the Brazilian hinterlands of the 1940s, ranch hand Manoel (Geraldo Del Rey) becomes an outlaw after killing his swindling boss. He pledges allegiance to Sebastião (Lidio Silva), a self-styled holy man who preaches revolt against rich landowners even as he perpetrates unspeakable acts of violent zealotry against the innocent. While the landowners hire a mercenary (Maurício do Valle) to take out Sebastião, Manoel and his wife Rosa (Yoná Magalhães) join cangaceiros Corisco (Othon Bastos) and Dadá (Sonia Dos Humildes), only to find themselves once more in league with evil, deluded forces. Steeped in history, myth, religion, and politics, and suffused with the feverish intensity of the blistering desert, Black God, White Devil is one of the Cinema Novo movement's most uncompromising statements on current social issues as well as the universal problem of mindless fanaticism.

Makes no sense!!! The restorers of this 4k version said the 2002 restoration (made in 1080p) was wrong for contrast and that now this new restoration in 4K used an original print to get the right contrast for present original film, which we could presume it refers to photography director's intention. BUT... acording to the photography director hinself in the 1960's after film release the prints was all wrong. The lab technicion who did the prints said in a interview that the photography director blamed hin for decades about the prints be made wrong, but also said it was impossible to get the print's image contrast as the photography director wanted by film photochemical technology from 1960's. The 2002 restoration in 1080p was suposed the version that never came to public in theaters and having the photography director's intention. So... what restoration have the true film??? The 4K based in a original print (blamed by the photography director) or the 2002 old digital restoration in 1080p made with help of the photography director? Sounds like the copies for theater hadn't the directors intention (due lab technology limitations of the time) and the 4K restoration copied/replicated the same limitations. Once again the photography director will not have his worked projected on big screen.
