Strange to see everyone’s reactions. I don’t have a big collection but I do have Black Gold and it is easily my most complimented fragrance. Perhaps it’s the fact that it pushes strongly and the trail in the air is really pleasant. That said it’s not like I get compliments that often but Black Gold definitely gets positive notices. In your video, you mention you can get this profile somewhere else. Would you mind sharing the names a couple that are similar but you like more? I usually hate cinnamon in fragrances, but in Black Gold I find it blends with the rose to remind me of those red licorice nibs. It was probably the first fragrance that made me more comfortable wearing florals casually, so Black Gold will probably always have a place in my collection for that reason.

Totally agree 60% floral 30%spicy and 10% fresh … all in all its an ok dress up type of fragrance BUT for some reason i get complimented on it many times

Nice review. I just bought this fragrance and I would consider it to be a very nice yet complex floral scent. Not spectacular but very nice!

Never tried it and to be sincere never was on my radar, I like some Manceras: Red Tobacco, Hindu Kush, Cedrat Boise, Instant Crush, yes it's too sweet but I like it, and I really enjoy them, I'm not in a position that I think I'm above lesser fragrances, yes, when you advance in this journey your nose opens up to more complex fragrances, but I still appreciate a simple, synthetic, shower gelish scent, I still enjoy my Nautica Voyage for it's simplicity. Also I don't understand why some people hate Mancera and Montale, at least they perform, they in general smell better that the majority of the redundant flankers in the designer arena and last longer than a lot of niche fragrances, you get much more than what you paid for, yes I'm looking at you Aventus. If a sample falls on my lap I will try it, who knows I might love it 🤷‍♂. Thanks for the Unboxing Marc!!!

I enjoy several of the Mancera fragrances. Black Gold is not one of them. I think that Montale / Mancera is a natural stepping stone for most fragrance collectors and that many eventually move on to more complex niche offerings. I never cared for Montale's aluminum "bottles". They feel half empty as soon as you get them, even though they're really not and they lack the charisma of a nice bottle like one from Electimuss, for example. Love the content. Glad you're back. Keep it coming!

Yo Robes! Agreed. I smelled a sample of Black Gold a while ago. It’s ok. That’s that best I could give it. Cedrat Boise is cool. I’ve never smelled Hindu Kush or Instant Crush (Heard it smells similar to the original 1 million). Mancera Vetiver Sensuel (sublime dry down scent) and Fig Extasy pretty much blew me away!! I owned this a few years ago & I remember feeling it had too many notes clashing with each other. I slightly prefer Mancera to Montale. Both are nice, but not much that knocks my socks off.

I'm not the biggest fan of Mancera, but I do have several. None are really groundbreaking (at least not in the way Montale was back in the day) or in my top 20 lists, but Black Gold for me somehow struck a familiar note from my past by reminding me of several scents that hold sentimental value to me - Poison, Joop and others that I can't quite make out. I can't really put a finger on it, but for me, Black Gold is an extremely comforting scent during cold winter temps. I don't wear it often, but I do appreciate having a bottle.

I might be wrong, but note of "violet" is not that one on picture. That is indoor plant "African Violet" which I have in several colors. like purple, deep purple, white... For parfumes its used garden violet "Viola odorata".

Bro, not sure if they reformulated or not, but when you sprayed 4 times, I was like “uh oh, he fuct up” lol, I sprayed 4 times when I got mine a few years back, and I was like “oh no, what did I just do” cuz it went nuclear on my skin and screwed up my day 🤪😜.

I only own Mancera Aoud Cafe and I love it but I'm definitely closer to Montale so I definitely agree with you here. I have several fragrances and absolutely love them. From Mancera I have Hindu Kush on my wishlist.

I bought a bottle of this a few years ago, but quickly sold it. I enjoy some floral fragrances 'Kenzo Power, Dsquared2 Potion Royal Black, Amouage Opus 3, MFK Lumiere Noire Homme' but the Black Gold was too feminine for me. It was the floral and sweet jasmine, there was just nothing that made this wearable for me.

Have you ever tried Red Tobacco? Couldn’t find a review from you. Also, I agree that the opening is underwhelming. The dry down is really good on my skin but performance leaves a lot to be desired. You’ll forget you’re wearing it for a few hours and then some delicious wafts of air will start hitting your nose!

I don't own Red Tobacco so no I haven't sampled it. Some of these youtube hypes (free bottles) take time for me to get my nose on them.

@robes08 I like it alot it's fruity and if you looked at the notes you think it would be girly but it's not to my nose and last a very long time maybe 4 sprays and it will give you a headache I think in the high humidity I believe .

I blind bought it and I don't like it. My wife likes manceras I'm not a fan myself, some of them did smell appealing at first sniff but usually for me it feels like wearing synthetic wool fabric they just make me feel not very good. Montale I can tolerate much better even though they are same brand in a way.

I’m with you on this one. Several years back I got a little sampler box on Amazon which had this as well several other mancera scents and other than CB, they were mostly “end of the road” samples for me. Some of those others were Black line, aoud lemon mint (no actual mint as I recall, though), wind wood, blue notes and so on. All in all, the brand does seem very much “run of the mill” 🫤
