Jamir Bingham Jamir Bingham Saying “we” or “us” lumps everyone in the present with sins of the past perpetuated by certain groups of people in history. The only people that should be held accountable now are individuals that are actually perpetuating racism today covertly and overtly. As a mixed race person I do not see myself as being complicit with slavery of the past. Taking a thorough look into world history can provide a more honest understanding of the past and help to create a better future. The Arab slave trade predates the Atlantic slave trade and continued to until around the 1960s (From the 7th century to the 1960), yet you don’t hear about it as often because it doesn’t conform to the prevailing narrative in the US. Should I be considered accountable for something that my ancestors potentially participated in 2700 years ago? That’s a rhetorical question. I choose to revere the sins of the past and strive to be a better person than previous generations.

Greg Roberge Unfortunately your talking to the wall. It’s sad but there is a culture that passes down their victim privileges to the next generation and makes sure they are thoroughly indoctrinated in being a victim and this country is 100% racist. If somebody dares to moves off the “victim plantation” then they are sell outs, uncle toms, etc,,,, those are the real people of color being mistreated if people want to see modern day racism and being victimized (although the word “victim” is not in their vocabulary.) Many become total outcasts by family, friends, and the culture they were raised in. They have serious backbone,;and emulate the word sacrifice, Candice Owens comes to mind. If those that play the victim/racism card don’t keep buying into the lie that they are victims, mistreated, and only whites have privileges then it is going to cost them dearly as outcasts,. That is simply not an option for them, they are not strong enough to handle a stand like that, easier to be a loyal sheep and play the role expected of them. But thankfully There are men and women who find out there’s a sinister reason for this indoctrination of victim hood, and open their eyes, see it, and step away from it, ,,,,those men and women are true leaders, hero’s, pioneers and people you can learn from about the cost of sacrifice, living honorably and refusing to be victims! They are the best examples in the world!

You are so right about our Country still being prejudice. Im an old Marine Sgt who served from 73 to 77. Im also from Charleston,West Virginia, I was raised to respect all Men equally. Now when I was in the Corps, my 2nd tour (75-77) at LeJeune, Black Marines faced prejudice issues in J-ville. That was wrong. My best friend was Obie Taylor from Texas, who was Black. I hate saying this, in 75-77, Marines had issues with Black & White Marines being friends back then. Obie & I were eating chow in the mess hall together and some Black & White Marines confronted us, we told them we are Marines; not Black Marines or White Marines. From that point on we never had issues about being friends. What I have read, the Marine Corps no longer has big issues with Race. Wish we could say the same about our Great Nation today. Semper Fi from an old Marine Sgt...OUT
