In this video I brew a Black IPA. A perfect winter beer for those that love hops and IPAs. I show you how to keep the dark grains from becoming overpowering in in the process and finally give you my honest reaction of the beer at the end! Check out the full recipe below!
Once you Go BLACK IPA Recipe (5.5 gallon Batch):
Grain Bill:
2-Row Malt 11.5 lbs (86%)
Caramel / Crystal 80L 1.0 lbs (7.5%)
Carafa III 10 oz (4.7%) (Late Mash addition)
Chocolate Malt 4.0 oz (1.9%) (Late Mash addition)
Ascorbic Acid - 4g in mash (helps prevent oxidation and preserve beer)
Salt and lactic acid additions are specific to my water profile, find yours with my water additions video here:

Mash Temp: 150F
Hops:
Magnum 1.0 oz. 60 mins
Cascade 1.0 oz. 15 mins
Cascade 1.0 oz. 5 mins
Citra 2.0 oz. Dry Hop (post fermentation) 7 days
Yeast:
Fermentis - Safale US-05
Fermentation Temp = 67F
Expected Details:
OG - 1.064 (mine was 1.061)
FG - 1.012 (Mine was 1.012)
ABV 6.8% (mine was 6.4%)
