If I remember my lore correctly, the black Kyber crystals or obsidian kyber crystals are one of the few crystals with a naturally occurring red colors, as opposed to most red kyber crystals being other types of kyber crystals that are "bled" with negative emotion(this was maybe a retcon at the hand of Disney? I've got people saying in the greater SW cannon, most red Crystals were artificially produced, but also other people saying that crystal bleeding was already a thing before disney?)

I believe the natural red kyber crystals were specifically a blood red where it's still red at it's core, but it's almost brown with how dark it is. People only hate this because the darksaber is iconic and if you want one you have to make it yourself

Legends - Black crystals were just black crystals and produced a blade like that of the Darksaber. You can see the only media depiction of a black crystal in Star Wars The Force Unleashed. Also, red crystals were originally mass-produced synthetic crystals and had nothing to do with bleeding. Bleeding was entirely a retcon by Disney that first debuted in the first Star Wars comics run under Disney's acquisition.

If you make a black center, have the outside of the saber illuminated and have a lil inconsistency in the black core (to simulate some of the white specs of energy on the darksaber) it has the same effect of black light (not UV, BLACK light) even though the light itself is white. I'm only mentioning this because while black light doesn't exist, you can still create the effect of the darksaber if disney tried hard enough, they would just have to make at least 1 crystal specific saber for the black crystal. Even if it's just an addition to the current model that still works with other crystals (darksaber with a red/blue glow around the black would LOOK cool even if it's not canonical) they want shit to be simple for them

The only canon black Kyber crystal is the Darksaber. Now going into Legends there is another: The Darkwing Crystal. This type of crystal is just a normal Kyber crystal infected by the Darkwing virus which gave it a dark smoky blade. The only showing of this is in Star Wars Galaxies, which is now shut down.

What Im suggesting however, is more along the lines of making a layered saber where the outermost layer is transparent and may light up with a dim white light, whereas the innermost layer which is like the center of the blade, - is maintained black with no light inside.

So. Some notes and a solution.. 1. No, there is no way to create "black light" that science currently knows about, at least not under current limitations of technology. I suppose in theory an equal and opposing wave form could potentially eliminate the light being reflected off a surface, but only from the specific angle of the emitter. So... Basically, you would have to hold a "darklight" flashlight infront of your eye to be able to observe (or, rather, not observe) the nullified photons. To explain, the "antiform" of photons, are them selves photons, so excluding specifically the photons being countered, from any other angle you would just see more light. 2. On to uv light. So "blacklights" emit ultra violet light. And can *blind you* if over exposed to them, evver notice how looking at a black light feels/looks kind of weird? Yeah, don't do that. Officially, standard blacklights aren't all that harmful, still. A UV flashlight has serious potential to cause damage. That said, you could permiate the lightsaber blade with phosphorous dye to make it iluminate more brilliantly when the light is on. But you can't change colors and the blade would always look the color of the light you are trying to emit, not really what most people are looking for ffrom their lightsaber iykwim. 3. Possible *eventual* solution for a black blade, and other color blades, might be a system employing a now little talked about technology called E-Ink. This has been around for a long time but it largely fell from the spotlight due to the popularity of tablets over readers. My understanding of the technology is limited so I'm making some assumptions here. So if you use a diffuser (the light saber "tube" in other words) with an E ink core, and use a laser system to illuminate the ink panel from the outside instead of core illumination, you may be able to achievve a "black blade" by the following. Through sufficient advancement of Eink technology, if you can create a color e ink panel capable of producing "true black", this would potentially resolve the problem. True black will absorb all wavelengths of light that strike it, because no light is being reflected from the surface, from your point of view it would just look sort of like a hole or crack in space, you can't see contours or surface variations, yoou just see the outer edge with black filling the inside of the shape. Beccause you would still have a clear tube wrapping the color core you would have a black inside with the outer edges being lit by white light. Which is what people seem to think this thing should look like. Problems are many, Eink really isn't hardened in the way it needs to be, you'd have to keep it out of direct sunlight (because it would become hot and melt) and also you would have to sign for every lightsaber a contract stating that you are not Anish Kapoor and are not buying it on his behalf. (Anish Kapoor is an artist, he's kind of like a sith lord of art, he is technically an artist, and a pit of magma s technically a pool of fluid that you just wouldn't want to swim in.)

I just got the one crystal and use a code changer to change it to whatever color I want. You can look up the rfid codes and set your crystal so the lightsaber reads it as whatever color you want. Don't believe that was dark side exclusive???? When atton asks why you don't have a Lightsaber shortly after peragus you can tell him what type of Lightsaber and what color it was. The list iirc includes orange, purple, viridian and silver alongside more traditional colors. Towards the end of the game you can retrieve your Lightsaber from a boss. It's been awhile but I think if you're dark side you go fight her and she feels correct for not trusting you but if you return and you're light side she kinda loses her mind and goes dark side on you, either way you get your rare lightsaber color back.

There's some good vids on the topic, technically you don't even need an official Disney crystal at all, just 3D print one and get the same kind of chip they use for the crystals and if you have a chip-reader (I think it's the name) you can get the codes for each special crystal to change it to what ever you want, if you already have an official one you can still rewrite the code in it (some crystals can appear as regular reds or greens but have special effects when used on a saber or other toy like a message from yoda if used in one of those hologram cubes).

You can, however, cut and insert two crossing polarizing plastic lens material sheets which will allow light to look like it's only coming out of the sides of the blade from any angle. fun fact: this is actually somewhat correct, as black counts as infrared. infrared are all colors that aren't visible to the human eye due to not enough energy/photons being transmitted. the opposite of this would be ultraviolet, which are sunbeams, that you cannot see because their energy levels are so incredibly high (and therefore dangerous).

Black light in fact does exist, just ordinary people are unable to see it. True black coloured light is 1 of the colours in the UV spectrum.

They could do a blacl one, make the blade light white but the plastic of the blade a faint see through black so that only the edges are white

First time going to Galaxie’s Edge last summer. Built a lightsaber and got a purple crystal. Then went over to Dok Ondar’s. First red canister I ever touched. Bought it. Saw it was the black crystal while standing in line for Smuggler’s Run. My buddy and I FREAKED OUT😂😂😂

The amount of people that can't keep their lore straight; There is no lore on black crystals and they only appear in Star Wars The Force Unleashed and Star Wars The Old Republic. They simply are crystals that make a black blade much like the Darksaber in appearance and the gameplay affect of turning your opponents to ashes [only in TFU, not TOR].The Darksaber's crystal [because it is a Lightsaber made by a Mandalorian Jedi] is probably white. The flats of the darksaber being black has only ever been depicted as a byproduct of how the Darksaber itself works. Unlike lightsabers, the flats of the darkblade cannot cut and are much cooler than the hyper focused edge of the blade which is always white hot when ignited. The Darksaber can cut through Beskar because of this hyper focused and white-hot edge.

For everyone being so dramatic Couldnt you just take some foil with sparkles on it and leave the sides with leds Since the blade isnt round it should be more than possible The foil should be vantablack or some sh but with some depth effect
