Thank you! That video I from a month in a half ago, I'm always behind editing, especially lately, filming 6 to 7 videos a week. I heard about the storm out there today. It was 19, 21 tomorrow. I was asked to live out there amd said no way, but it is beautiful. I stayed in Chestermere.

Interesting, how radically different black and honey locusts look. The tree services here dont do any more cutting than they have to. Rarely do you see tree service wood cut into blocks like that- here, its all 5-8' or so logs, and big stump cuts. Occasionally, a block or two where that was the best way to get it off the tree. Lots of them now have these cool little grapples on tracks that they either ride or control via remote. Makes getting wood out of yards way easier! It does make going and getting trickier, though- you need to bring a saw. But at least you end up with way fewer weird, random lengths.
@OntarioFirewoodResource2 жыл бұрын
Hmmm, I wonder if they trend over here. Seems like they're just used to doing it that way, lots of tight spots to navigate the closer you get to town from the suburbs. Yes much different looking tree

Hey Terry, lots of straight wood in there amd the beast splitter will take care of most of it. The rest in the single beam speeco

It was black locust how I found your channel last year on a big pickup you made in a residential area. Another nice score. We see it here but I wish i had lots more, it's like coal!

No way! My first BL video did well comparatively. That was my early days but I was getting in the groove then. Not much here. They grow in patches but ive gotten a lot this year. Sometimes I get 3+ diameter. Cheers my frjend

@John Okubo you got it! I made a crazy video called "inside Niagara", I'm releasing tomorrow morning. I went in the old power station which is a museum now and the new attraction which is the drainage tunnel for the turbines that brings you out to the river level below the falls. Great experience

Yup I love this stuff, more because it's different. I'm not crazy about the smell when it's burning, but I'd have some if I really needed the heat, my shop is not insulated but I don't spend a lot of time in there anyway

Nice load Anthony. Fairly big stuff. At the first of the video I thought it was chestnut tree. Looks like the floor of the box is getting a little thin. Have a good day.

Yes. I've been waiting for a chance to get the floor done. I have the metal too. Problem is when you gotta fix a, b and c, then d, e, f,g, h, i,j, etc. Comes up and has to be fixed. Just did my ujoints and hanger bearing. Bough valve cover gasket amd now I need a 200 dollar valve cover because theres a crack in it

Awesome video! Do you have any experience with box elder? I have some on our property and have to cut some back. Wondering if it's worth splitting and trying in the wood stove. Thanks 🙏
@OntarioFirewoodResource2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching. There is tons of box elder in Toronto. We cal it Manitoba maple. It smells bad and it burns quick. I wouldn't recommend it but free wood may matter

Locus is a hotter burning wood than is oak for heating your home, but needs more time to dry, so there is a trade off,,,
@OntarioFirewoodResource2 жыл бұрын
Yes it is better than oak. Only hickory and ironwood are better in my region. I swear that honey locust takes the longest to dry

Nice find Anthony. Have you used a hookaroon or something like a LogOx? Might save your back long term. Keep on splittin’
@OntarioFirewoodResource2 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where I can get a hookaroon here. There's hardly any logging or firewood equipment here to begin with. My have to order from a arborist supply shop, or I could make one by taking a cutting disk to an axe

Thank ypu humbly! Been doing firewood for 12 years. The channel will be 2 years old in January. Its a big learning curve with filming, editing, understanding analytics and the content creator mindset amd apparatus. I put way too much effort to make the videos, ut I love it and the great community in the realm of firewood -Anthony

Locust brings the Heat! But the bark wears down a chain almost as fast as dirty wood. A few years back, I had 2 very large trees worth of rounds…..the best thing I ever did was to allow the logs to season 2 years before making rounds……the bark all but fell off the logs. Made making the rounds so much easier, faster and allowed the chains to stay sharp. 🪵⛓🪚👍👏🔥 Rick
@OntarioFirewoodResource2 жыл бұрын
I've heard this before, but haven't noticed myself. The bark makes some good kindling.

10$ a bf and you're cutting it into firewood 🤔.....
@OntarioFirewoodResourceАй бұрын
I've never heard about black locust being sawn into boards. The thing about tree cutting in the city is that usually they're cut because they're rotting amd the tight spaces around the small home lots and power lines mean that the trees have to be cut down in sections most of the time
