Outstanding Absolutely superbly done Rani Amit wow i have no words. Thank you this is workds best movie i feel rani n amit deserves more they broke worlds record of an achievement for n outstanding superb performance its more than a movie more than life beautiful wow this is the directors producers best movie this is a art never to be forgotten God bless rani amit and the little girl my heart is always with u guys i wish thers lots of people in the world like you thank you for a wonderful movie they all worked hard n the love n emtion they have showed its real .

BLACK: THE FILM FOR WHICH BHANSALI WOULD BE ALWAYS REMEMEBERD IN HISTORY OF HINDI CINEMA! 4th February 2005! It was my birthday and my friends were waiting for me to give them party . That were days when mobile was a luxury and so there was no other means of communication if your landline does not get picked up. More than my birthday, I was excited to finally watch my most awaited movie of 2005 Sanjay Leela Bhansalis BLACK! For me, a film of Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Anurag Kashyap, Vishal Bhardwaj, Mani Ratnam, Shyam Benegal, Rajkumar Hirani is like an event of my life irrespective of its box office report! I was at Aradhana cinema at Vadodara waiting in queue waiting to take 6:30 show ticket. 13 years after the release, I must have seen BLACK more than 50 times. My brief view of the same. An FTII graduate in early 1980s, a son of a B and C grade producer Navin Bhansali, Sanjay assisted Shyam Benegal as assistant editor along with his sister Bela Sehgal on a DD national Show Bharat Ek Khoj. From there he got chance to assist Vidhu Vind Chopra in 1989 cult classic Parinda and then in 1942 a love story. Vidhu Chopra had offered Bhansali to direct Kareeb but he had refused as he wanted to make a movie on deaf and blind People . He had the story of BLACK way back in 1990s but was scared to make it as his debut film as he thought it will be too hard to digest . So he made Khamoshi The musical! Then he shifted the gears in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999 and then made costliest film of that time DEVDAS in 2002. What after Devdas? Was the question in his mind! Then he thought to take risk and make a film on life of Helen Keller , and thus, Masterpiece Black was born.! Bhansali always said jokingly that Black is like committing suicide for him as he is making a totally different genre of filmmaking which generally is called ART or PARALLEL cinema for which he is not known! Did he succeed? Let’s analyze the film. Story: Black tells story of MISHEL MACNELLY ( Rani ) from her angle and her experiences of being blind and deaf from childhood and how a teacher ( Bachchan ) comes in her life and teaches her about being self dependent . Screenplay and dialogues: Prakash Kapadiya is Bhansalis right hand always be it any film of his except khamoshi. Prakash Kapadiya and Bhavani Iyer along with Bhansali create a strong screenplay . Screenplay hardly has any dull moment and is water tight. Dialogues are high point of the film! My abcd starts with B L A C K . yeh andho ki aankhen hai behero ki awaaz, life is an ice cream enjoy it before it melts, us ek pal main tumne mujhe aurat hone ka ehsaas dila diya, mishell is deaf and blind Mrs Micnelley, she is not mentally retarded, etc. Technical aspects: I have always been a great fan of Cinematographer Ravi K Chandran ( dil chahta hai, kannathil mutthamithal, my name is khan, kandukodain kandukodian saawariya, virasaat, yuva, etc ) But what he frames and artistic camerawork he creates in Black is at par! He would be always remembered for his work in BLACK! Every frame looks like a painting! Surely his one of the best work along with Saawariya in hindi cinema( I am not commenting on his tamil and malyalam films. as people might not have seen it generally ) Editing is razor sharp by Bela Sehgal. Sound design by Resul Sir is mesmerizing as film like this needs it most mature sound understanding artist. Thankfully there are no songs in the movie! The background score by Monty ( son of Naresh Sharma, who is a great composer himself and brother of Pyarelal Sharma of LP duo and Monty is brother of Mithun Sharma. ) is out of this world! RARELY in hindi cinema you find so matured and effective background score! It also one song Haa maine chhukar dekha hai sung by Gayatri Ganjawala , written by Prasoon joshi but was not used in the film just was part of cd. Performances: Any words of praise or any adjectives would be insufficient to say about the acting of actors in this movie be it any actor! Dhrimant Chatterjee made a sort of comeback in this film and gave a tough father performance with gusto! Theater vetran Sharnaz Patel gave a bravura act and made us feel the pain a mother goes! The young Child Ayesha kapoor really put shame on so called great actors in bollywood! What an act! That young child was from lakhwadeep islands and had never seen a film before and never acted! Can you believe it? Its pure genius of Bhansali who could extract such a life long act from a child! Amitabh Bachchan himself says in many interviews that Black is his best! Even Bachchan did not charge a single rupee as fees for the film for the sheer excitement of working with Bhansali! This is one of the finest performace of Amitabh Bachchan and he received the coveted national award for it! But on a personal level, I found his performance some what thearterical like a theater artist doing a play. The real hero of BALCK is Rani Mukherjee no doubt about it! Rani was BORN to play this role! Her body language to eyes to her anguish to her happiness and madness, everything she does is with utmost perfection and easily its Rani s LIFETIME best performance! Direction: To make a sensitive film like this, One needs a rare maturity and patience and talented director and who could have done justice to this film other than Sanjay Leela Bhansali himself! This is easily his BEST work! Overall: Once a in a lifetime, a film like Black is made! Like today we bow down to Mughleazam, Kaaghaz ke Phool or Pyaasa, our next generations will bow down to BLACK! wow..enjoyed reading this.... And now Rani has an even better performance to her credit with Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. A magnificent, once -in-a-lifetime performance like BLACK now comes second in her top performances. What an icon, what a legend, a true cinematic genius!

Sanjay sir given a mile stone film to Mr.Amitabh sir... Whenever upcoming generation of bachan's ask why their grand paa was super start , millennium start ... they simply need to see again this performance ( movie ).
