Black mamba, something that always impose fear and awe at the same time, you do not mess with them

We were staying in the riverview tents at Lower Sabie recently, always memorable and beautiful, a real treat. One day, on leaving our tent, one of the workers called us over to the tree behind our accommodation and showed us this big black mamba that was moving about in the tree. He was posted to keep an eye on the snake while someone else was trying to find a snake catcher in the camp. It is practice to remove deadly snakes if found inside the camp and to relocate them to a different spot far from the camp. Black mambas are extremely venomous and a bite from one could result in a very quick death unless you get the correct treatment very fast, something that is not always a reality far from amenities in the bush.
