Black Midi has easily cruised to the top of my play list. The challenging compositions and lyrics give hours of "hmmm?!?!" and they pull this off aplomb. Agreed, the bass could have come up a little, but the cool thing about the mix can Morgan Simpson play normal and not pounding freaking crap out of the drums like so many bands and sound guys inflict on the drummer. The band's unseen tech guys are a much part of the band and deserve a shout out. Too many bands, and some really big time guys use delay and echo effects just for the sake of the effect. This team pulls it together seamlessly. Lesson learned: It's more than turning on the effects and hoping for the best. Great Job! Keep it up!

An amazing and really talented band for sure. If you already haven't, be sure to check out their new album Cavalcade. A mesmerising jazz fusion weirdness album, it's amazing. Also their first album, schlagenheim is a noise, experimental, post punk masterpiece. One of my favourite albums ever. I'm happy that you discovered this band!
