Though i gotta say, when it comes to mapping down the US Hip Hop, as an overseas fan, I pretty much group it down like this: >> The West Coast : mainstream AND underground, old school AND new trend ( PacDiv, TDE, etc..) >> The Dirty South : From ATL .., to St Louis, New Orleans, Mississippi etc..) >> CHi-town >> Motown >> And then of course, Big Apple.. I hope u get my point here.. i distinguish them areas cause they have distinctive sounds.. Never thought of considering S.F. aside from the West Coast as a whole, cause the sound and the vibe are pretty similar to me For example, i can't come up with a distinctive sound from MIAMI..
