It's interesting that in the story some people prefer die normally despite using the technology of having their conscience placed into paradisiacal virtual realities to live indefinitely. If that fiction comes true any time, it's believable that many of us prefer the same, considering that kind of virtual life even frightening and dystopic.

Only recently been introduced to San Junipero. What an amazing story & film with 1st rate acting. I think Mackenzie Davies is great. I often wonder if life itself is a “simulation”. Amazing & movingly edited video by the way! Lost count of how many times I’ve watched it. If it was filmed in Cape Town as suggested, they should be driving on the left.

Hmm... San Junipero is still a debatable episode if you dig enough (Spoilers) Just a suggestion or opinion: Would it add more impact and meaning if you expanded the part where everyone in San Junipero were all half dead or something? Either way, this part 3:17 is probably the best one which sort of explains the suggestion above. Out of curiosity, where do you discover all these indie songs btw?

80-85% of the people in SJ were dead. They were in full afterlife. The remaining 15-20% were like Kelly and Yorkie at the time...they were people with terminal conditions that were given a trial of San Junipero. The trial was limited to a certain number of hours per week. Hence, Kelly and Yorkie were watching the clock because their time together was limited. When Yorkie dies, she becomes a full San Junipero resident, but Kelly was still alive at that time so she still had limited hours. This is why she disappeared on Yorkie and woke up again in the nursing home after they fought and she crashed her car. The next day, Kelly decided to die and the last scene is of her joining Yorkie in the SJ afterlife. The writers have confirmed that Kelly indeed did choose to be with Yorkie in SJ in the end and this episode is meant to be a complete break from the very depressing theme that the other episodes have. San Junipero is meant to have a happy ending, and be an inspiring, uplifting, comforting story.
