BM Wukong is made with love. People don’t understand, JTTW is embedded in the childhood of all the devs and Monkey King is their “Superman” growing up. They’re devoted to make the best game to not only represent their own Chinese culture, but most importantly to fulfill their own childhood dreams. When devs make game with this kind of mindset, it’s hard for it to not be great.

BMW is my personal GOTY 2024 & I feel like they deserve to win that price. TRULY a masterpiece, w/e the critics are saying. THIS GAME FUCKS HARD!! I platinum'd the game [PC - Steam] at about 80 hours played.. it was an INSANE ride full of dopamine, hype, exitement, progression .. and I got my money's worth. [MORE then, and then some] If they gonna come up with DLC/Expansions, I dont care about the price, I will buy it, and I wont be dissappointed. Game Science truly has my respect after this game and put them on the radar just like we eat up anything from FROMSOFTWARE these days. I feel like this game truly matches if not surpass on certain things like other big games such as Dark Souls, God Of War etc. Its on that level. I loved the graphics, music, gameplay, progression, heck even the Story was pretty cool and I never read Journey to the West. REALLY hope there is more to come from this studio!!!!

I think with the success of Black Myth Wukong, we don't need to question if there will be a DLC, the right question should be when. In a Chinese interview, the creators clearly said that they've planned 13 chapters for the game but b'cos of the length and time, they cut it into 6. That should not be a question as well. As the original book is huge, no one is counting (actually I'm sure someone have counted) but they are supposed to meet 81 "difficulties" in the journey.

there's quite a few things wrong with the video around erlang. first of all he did not turn to dust when you beat him, he returns wukong's memory which he kept in his 3rd eye which was what the particle coming from his 3rd eye is. and it would make no sense if he was corrupted in the beginning fight since he was the one who was scheming with wukong and helping him and his successor.

@@reuploads-TVwell! You are right. The most obvious thing regarding erlangshen helping wukong( or the Destined one) is that Erlang sent his brother in arms to help the players( the destined one ). The first one is the snake guy ( and when the players defeated him and he talked about his brother, he meant that as Erlang), and later on in the game in other chapters, there is a different guy that is meant to help the destined one( one of which even fallen into becoming a Yaoguai villain.

If the next game they are doing will be Black Myth: Jiang Zi Ya, we will probably see Erlang Shen and Nezha in the story again. They came from another famous Chinese novel called “封神演義(Investiture of the gods)”. The novel’s backstory happened in around BC 104X sth when Jiang Zi Ya gathered all the warriors to bring down Shang Dynasty. These warriors then became the famous gods in Chinese Mythology. Both Erlang Shen and Nezha are important characters in the novel and they ascended as god with Jiang Zi Ya after that war. The event of Journey to the West happened during Tang Dynasty(AD 7th century) after Sun Wukong had been punished by the Buddha for 500 years. So Wukong actually wrecked the celestial court around AD 2nd century and fought with Erlang Shen, Nezha and other gods. The events of Journey to the West happens after the Investiture of the gods.

So once Wukong started his shenanigans, Erlang supported him on the low, enabling him to do what Erlang himself was not strong enough to do alone. There's a lot to it, you should definitely look up the lore behind that.

While other 5 senses were given to yaoguai kings. When Erlang took a piece of wukong (mind); 2 celestial courts soldiers witnessed this. And Erlang killed both to leave no witnesses. (This is mentioned in a journal entry). He protected wukong’s will till the time one who is destined to be wukong would beat him in battle. (This is mentioned by matreya; the fat Buddha)

It is my understanding that originally they intended this game to be pretty much fully open world and they intended to have like 12 chapters. But they realized fairly early on that was too much for the team to pull off, so they scaled it way back. It's my understanding that's why the first two areas are full of invisible walls while it's not nearly so bad in the read of the game.

1. The Giant Lion form is supposed to be one of the 3 yaoguai kings in ShituoLing（狮驼岭), the white elephant got data mined together with an eagle yaoguai are the rest 2 kings. In the original story from Journey to the West, the Lion yaoguai turned into Huge Form to battle Wukong. I think GameScience using this Lion model is a sign that they are making a haste, clearly Chapter 5 and 6 are way shorter than the first 4 chapters. 2. The Erlang Shen didn't turn into dust. The black smoke coming from his 3rd eye is actually the 6th relic of Wukong, the most important one, Yi(feelings and memories). He has been trying to help the destined one with his brothers(snake in Ch1, hog in Ch2, fire ring guy in Ch3, many-armed guy in Ch4, and the bull in Ch5) and hiding from the celestial court in the painting with the help of MiLe Budda(the baby monk in Ch3). Why did he do that? A reasonable guess is that Erlang Shen saw the same unfairness Wukong saw and Wukong's self-sacrifice to try to escape or even break this unfairness rekindled his rebels(He has a bad history with the celestial court too, same as Wukong)

Just a head up, Wu kong does not fight well under water in the original fiction. Any fights beneath the water, he always sent Bajie to lure the Yaoguai out for him to fight on ground. So, if there is a dragon palace dlc, you would at least need to acquire some relic that enable Wukong to fight under water first.

If there's a DLC, what i want to see is 1. Underwater world and combat, the East Sea Dragon Palace, where WuKong got his Jing Gu Bang Staff. 2. Destine one go on a new journey for his own development, like WuKong had his own journey to the west. 3. 4th Sister and her fate, if we can save her from being made into medicine. Or if she died, we get to avenge her. More importantly address the love interest between her and the destined one, or her past incarnation's love interest with WuKong. 4. More key characters and boss, like the Pagoda god and NeZha, which was shown in the BMW true ending animation cutscene. Would be nice to see the Jade Emperor, Guan Yin and Ru Lai Buddah too. 5. Depending on the story, the destined one could trash the court once again. Or at least let us play WuKong from the past doing that. The trailer had him smashing the heavenly guards and soldiers, kinda like Dynasty Warrior style.

Thus its likely in the DLC we will be playing a character that is different from the original WuKong, despite bearing his name. It could be interesting to see how he would develop as a character, if he starts to speak, if he retains his own calm personality or will he become arrogant and wild like the original WuKong. More importantly, his new journeys ahead, if he would walk or the same path or visit the old paths as the original JTTW or a brand new one in BMW.

Just imagine, the final dlc where all 5 members get together again and slay their way to the Celestial court and rescue our Monke's Goth GF. What a year to be alive

It's a nice wish but I'm not sure that would fit in the lore regarding the personalities of the original characters. Especially for Tang Seng. Zhu Bajie and Sha Seng and Bai long Ma might join Wukong in fighting against the Celestial but Tang Seng wont.

There is 3 endings. First ending is achieved by completing the game. Second ending is the secret ending by going through the painting at the great pagonda. And the third ending is achieved by going back to fight Wukong in the rock after completing the second ending.

Erlang didn’t turn to dust he set the memories free and basically revealed wukongs plan to break free. He’s literally alive to give you the weapon. He wasn’t aware or just realized too late that he was a part of wukongs elaborate plan. It literally said throughout the boss battle and later revealed that Erlang gave the relics to the specific bosses we fought

The only Blue Faced Lion in the book/86' show is the lion demon of Shituoling.... You can google it... Thats why I think the Erlangshen in the game is not the real Erlangshen...

Oh, that's interesting! I did stumble upon a video on Douyin where the lead artist mentioned that they originally planned for 11 chapters in the first game. But due to time constraints, they had to scale back and focus on perfecting just 6 chapters. Just wanted to share that info!

fyi : erlang's not turning into dust, he kept wukong memories in his third eye. so the Destiend one know excatly what happened. after Destined One win a fight against erlang, Erlang cleary said " i now understand that fight, no prestige can't shackle him, no band can't keep him cage. The reason why there's a chapter 1,2,3,4,5 is referred to journey to the west. If you see the original movie, it's all according to the movie and the reason why wukong relics on yaoguai hand because erlang and wukong wanted to test Destined One and see if Destined one got whatever it takes to find all the wukong relics and carry the name of 孙悟空

For those you don't know, Jiang Ziya is not from Journey to the West but another Chinese mythology named “封神演义（The Investiture of the Gods）”. Not saying it's impossible, but a sequel that features other characters from Journey to the West seems to be more reasonable. BTW there are some characters that do appear in both stories such as the Erlang, Ne Zha, Li Jing etc.

If you watch the trailer of 4 years back. It would have been a different kind of game play. There is also a scene where he fights 100+ battle what did not make this cut. He could also sling on a rope between trees and change in the cicada at will. Wonder why they changed some of the gameplay.

Erlang never turned into dust. He is Wulong’s most reliable ally. Erlang has always been a very positive figure just like Wukong and Nezha. The rumour about the celestial court was taken by imposter is ridiculous. Those commentators had no knowledge of Chinese mythology. There are plenty of folklores the heads of the celestial court are the biggest villains just like the Greek mythology. Erlang is one of a classical example. He became deity solely to save her ex-goddess mother who was buried under a mountain by the Jade Emperor - the highest deity in this celestial court and also her brother. Jade Emperor was too pride to accept his sister gave up deity to marry a human, and Erlang trained hard to fight Jade Emperor to free her. There is another well known one behind the Chinese Valentine day, the celestial Queen created Milky Way just to separate her little daughter from her human husband and two children. All magpies took pity on them and flew up to the Milky Way to form a bridge to let them spend a day together every year - that day became the Chinese Valentine’s Day. They got to design a DLC (maybe even a sequel) in fighting the celestial court.

In the game, they all expressed concerns over Erlang hiding Wukong’s memory in his eyes, how that tormented his mind. If you read the book, Wukong greets Erlang, using the term “bro” which he only reserves for peers he is actually close to. If you still think they are revivals then you don’t understand the game plot.

Since the base game occured in the multiple realms of the mortal world, the DLC is probably going to be the Destined One assaulting the Heavenly Court. Nezha, 4th Sister, Tang Monk, Sandy are probably going to be included. I also feel like the “Child Monk” from Chapter 3 may evolve into like a full Buddha form or some shit but idk too much abt the mythology. What I really really want is a Jade Emperor boss fight

Actually, if you beat the game 3 times with true ending everytime, once you start the 4th NG, you will hear him speaking (under circumstances i believe as he need to wear Monkey King set armor) and get the monkey king 4th stance
