Some tips and background lore for you: 0. You fought the Yellow WInd Guai (final boss) the HARDEST way. You should use the WInd Tamer vessels you got after the beetle fight. It instantly removes the winds and made the 2nd phase way easier. 1. NPCs will only appear on your teleport list after you've actually met them in that location. If you haven't met them there, they won't show up in the list 2. The "Tiger Vanguard" you fought in the sand realm was from an event that took place 500 years ago (during the time of "Journey to the West"). Just like when you fought the golden monk with the big head, these events are from the past. That's why the protagonist gets a headache and then gets teleported. 3. The Tiger Vanguard you encountered in the blood pool is the first son of the OG Tiger Vanguard from the sand realm, as seen in the memory. 4. The tiger father actually had a second son. These two brothers fought the Yellow Rat (the final boss of Chapter 2) when he came to claim the land again(we'll talk why I use again later). The brother lost the battle, and the older brother made a deal to serve the Yellow Rat and become the new Tiger Vanguard in order to save his little brother. He obviously wasn’t happy with how things turned out, but he couldn't change it, so he decided to take out his rage by eating as many rats as possible 5. To meet the Tiger Vanguard's younger brother, you'll need to go through the village and obtain a rattle toy from a mini-boss. After that, you'll need to visit three specific locations to trigger the encounter. It's a bit tricky to find everything, and the map is quite large, so you might need to Google it. 6. The rat king (that got eaten by a big ass rat) was so afraid of the Tiger Vanguard because he eats so many of them on a daily basis. The Rat king had 3 son: second son was in the 2v1 boss fight. If you kill the 2nd son, the rat king seak help for his first son but gets eaten. The Rat king family and the whole kingdom were all human before, but they got cursed for helping the Yellow Wind Guai and ended up becoming rats. 7. The true story is definitely NOT what Lingji Bodhisattva said in the end of Chapter 2. He sent the Yellow Wind Guai to there for a mission that secretly benefits himself and he's not being honest about it. Just like the Black WInd King in Chapter 1 was sent by Guanyin for a similar mission. I won't spoil it for you for the plot. But if you ended up reading all these, why not go to the "Journey" or "log" section (I don't know what it is called to be exact lol mine version is in Chinese) in the game, where the background stories for all bosses, NPCs, and every type of enemies are recorded. I swear there are some very dope stories in there - MOST stories in there gave me goosebumps. It's like you take an side quest in WItcher3 and multiply that to every type of enemies and NPCs.

Right. First, yes, you went to the past to fight together with the Yellow Rat againts Fuban. Funfact, you could use the Vessel you get there to cancel Yellow Rat's Tornado in his Boss fight. In each Chapter there's a Vessel, and each Vessel can help immensely againts each Chapter's final boss. Like the Vessel you got after fighting the golden baby gave you fire immunity which is great againts the Black Bear. Second. The end story with the fox reflect what happened with the Yellow Rat. At first, he genuinely kind and good. To the point he was given a title as Sage and a shrine was made for him by the King. However, he is still A Yaoguai/Monster/Demon. And eventually his own nature caught up to him when he stumbled upon one of Wukong's Senses. He tricked his Master who is proud of him and stole his head. He even seems to be regretful too of his own actions judging by his words during the fight. You can compare the story with the Scorpion and the Frog story. Where while the Frog helped the Scorpion pass through a river, the Scorpion stung the Frog making them both drown. When the Frog asked the Scorpion why did it do that, the Scorpion only answers, "I am a Scorpion, that's what I do."

The craziest part is it lowkey showed that the majority of the gaming community is autistic. SunWuKong was born in a rock located in the "Mountain of Flowers and Fruits" and was hailed the monkey king after winning a bet, and started enjoying himself. But later after one of his close friends died, he realized that he'll eventually die and not be able to be happy anymore. The monk was the protagonist of "The Journey to the West" and was the person who went on this journey. SunWuKong tricked the monk into freeing him and became the monks apprentice. But the monkey was mischievous, and ran off after being unhappy with his new master. After he ran off, another immortal came and gifted the monk a magical golden headband, and gave instructions on how to use it. The monk tricked SunWuKong into putting on the headband, which caused immense pain when a certain magical poem was read. After that SunWuKong obeyed his master and protected him with two other apprentices, a humanoid pig and a blue-skinned-read-haired-humanoid. After they made the journey after 9 long years, SunWuKong was made a Immortal. But SunWuKong found the rules of being a Immortal cumbersome, so he returned to his birthplace to live in peace. And that is where the game begins. (Note: The Monk wasn't a bad guy for forcing SunWuKong to obey him, what I explained has highly oversimplified. Also, The last two sentences about SunWuKong returning to his mountain is made up, not originally in the story. Although it is highly believable.) Please liek this took me 30 minutes. I don't know whose is this for, because the game has already explained 80% of the lore. So, there are some missing info that would clear up some confusion: Yes, you did go to the past and helped the yellow-furred rat to beat the giant beetle. In the past, you encountered the OG Tiger Vanguard. This Tiger Vanguard was actually the father of the "blood-pool" tiger. Papa Vanguard worked for the yellow-furred rat, and he was the one who kidnapped Tang San-zang in the Journey to the West novel. Papa Vanguard fought Wukong and Bajie (the Pig), he was killed by Bajie. Papa Vanguard had two sons. After losing their father, the two tiger brothers were struggling just to get by. The older brother tiger was actually kind, and he took it upon himself to protect their mountain and actually helped humans by guiding lost travelers and eating bandits. The local people called the big tiger brother "Tiger God", this annoyed the younger brother, because he felt that the older brother stole all the thunders. When the yellow-furred rat (Yellow Wind Sage) cut off Lingji Buddha's head and came back, the Tiger brothers wanted to fight the rat initially. But the rat is too powerful, he badly injured the younger brother. Older tiger brother surrendered in order to save the younger brother. Yellow Wind Sage liked the older brother's abilities and made him the new Tiger Vanguard, which again, pissed off the younger brother. The younger tiger brother chose to hide in a dried-up well to lick his wound (a boss you missed). Also, an interesting fact: the real-life Lingji Buddha's sculpture is also headless. Its head is on display in the British museum, and let's just say....it's not a gift by the Chinese....

Afro. Anytime you find a secret that requires a special item it will have nothing to do with the story. The story is extremely linear you will always know what’s main story related. If you see something that for example required you to fight a new NPC like the boar, or use an item to unlock a new location it’s likely a side quest so just do it without worrying.

There's a whole separate area with a very interesting side quest you're missing. I recommend going back and completing that, the side story is quite insightful and you'll actually end up appreciating the entire Chapter 2 area and the reason for the desolated setting more. Not to mention a very difficult optional boss and a nice gourd.

Hey Afro, just wanted to tell you in case you don't know. After defeating a boss or lesser enemy, before taking or absorbing the floating orbs, whenever you're low on health, be sure to use the gourd & heal yourself before taking the orbs. It will refill the gourd. Green & purple ones that say "take" will completely refill the gourd to 100% & the random green orbs you see when you're exploring will also refill, but will only refill by one sip. Idk why but itI'm pre sure this is a time rift. In the lore journal after you beat him it's presumed that this is the dad of the first tiger vanguard. After this older vanguard held off wukong and was killed by him the yellow wind sage (previously the yellow wind king rat) fled and came back after a hundred years. The younger brother blamed the wind sage for his dad's death and his older brother loses to the sage as well, becoming an underling to him. The younger tiger out of rebellion sided with the rats of sandgate village and offered protection as long as there's some rats to feed himself which is why you see rat corpses and the blood pool when you fight him.

Its actually that tiger’s father. If you read their bios, it mentions that his father was the previous tiger vanguard before being killed by Wukong during the journey. He also says “I have two little cubs waiting for me”.
