That Dweezil is keeping his father's legacy, giving his time to the younger generation exploring it, and he's one mean guitar player besides is extraordinary.

Dude, this serious music is his dad’s ‘putrid filth’. Somehow you didn’t know that. He plays the music of Frank Zappa, strictly. Grrrr
@markcollins1497
@markcollins1497 5 жыл бұрын
Frank’s ‘sleaze’ was sometimes over the top but always satirical. Adolescent sometimes, puerile, even. ‘Putrid filth’’? Naw, that’s GG Allen territory. Sleazy guitar, sure, which I hear Dweezil emulating a certain amount. Frank was a great bandleader and always seem happy and content sorrounded by such great players. Hardworking (workaholic, really), smoked too much, probably. Not perfect, no doubt. Left slot of music that a lot of people love. Go, Dweezil!

What a beautiful version. I can only imagine how hard it must have been for Dweezil to play his fathers music. Not so much from a skill perspective. Because it's hard to have the mission of keeping his Dads music alive, so he tried to be as close to the original as possible to do the original justice. What a massive project. I find that he now sounds much more like Dweezil and that does his Dad even more justice. Fantastic development. Such a great accomplishment! Thanks Dweezil for giving your gift to us.

@@michaelcontreras148 His pallet to draw from certainly is way broader. And I admire Dweezil's playing in mutliple ways. He has great taste, great tone and a second to none technique. His Dad has achieved something only a scarce few have ever - to have a unique sonic footprint - you can instantly tell it's Frank.

Frank often relied HEAVILY on bass players defining the tonal center and rarely allowed them freedom to deviate from the pedals and vamps. Check out two of his pieces "Beat It With Your Fist" and "Republicans" for examples of two different bassists trying to make the most of those restrictions. My favorite Zappa album, Ship Arriving Too Late to Save a Drowning Witch, is an exception and has killer bass all over it.

When George Duke went to work with (not for, but with) Frank. Frank asked George to do a simple little Doo Woop run. George replied "I can't do that" Frank, "why, is it beneath you?". George, at that moment George got it. Frank Zappa, whether it be an extremely emotional yet simple 2 chord progression or a "Black Page" Intricate, abrupt time change, multiple time change more note per line than seems humanly possible. (For those of you who are thinking "Black Page" was one piece with 2 parts) Yes it was, I was fascinated to learn it's also a reference to a musicians nightmare of music too difficult for them to play. Folks, Frank Zappa is was unlike any other musician. And the solo Dweezil did in this performance brought me to tears, gut wrenching in the best way. Thank you. John 14:6

@Martin G , thank you for your comment. Martin, I may get a little lengthy on this so forgive me. Martin I know better now than to say that I loved Franks music. As a musician and an artist, I believe that Frank Zappa was the most gifted in my lifetime. Now sixty-three years. Listening to his music, I was often brought to tears. I have actually thought about contacting Dweezil to see if I could discuss his father's beliefs.

@Martin G , Martin this is fascinating. The "AI" would not let me write you. The computer kept erasing things that I was writing. (Have you seen videos of people asking the different Central Computers like, "Alexis", I have forgotten the rest. The people in the videos will ask a series of questions about, Budda, Mohammed, etc. The computer gives a descriptive answer. Then they will ask who is JESUS? The computer will not answer or says it doesn't understand the question. I thought that's what was happening to my reply to you) So I gave up. I had no idea it went through, Praise GOD.
