Good video. The worst thing about CoD (other than Activision obnoxiously thinking that every player is a teenager with the attention span of a goldfish) is the SBMM. That's what sucks about all new multiplayer pvp matchmaking. It used to be you were rewarded for getting better and could see the tangible effects of your progression because you got to own up on noobs when your skills increased. Now that randomness is taken out of the equation your reward for getting better is only ever a higher level of competition. It's just not fun.

I was a massive fan in the 2000s of Call of Duty mainly for the campaigns. For a short time there in the early 2000s we were blessed with Medal of Honor and Call of Duty releasing great games at the same time. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was the game I had the most fun with (not the remaster or new one or whatever you want to call it). The games after that had a slow decline and really by the PS4 days I pretty much checked out after that. I'd try one that was new to me every now and then when they'd go on sale, but it's built for twitchy online multiplayer gamers now, and that's fine. I'm not upset about it. The days of being excited for a new CoD left me many moons ago. You're not wrong.

Started in 2003 with the original and bailed around BO2. What you described is exactly what I've felt and came to terms with. I hate to say it, but the reality is that I grew up with the slower playstyle and I'm certain that if I was a 16 year old in high school that grew up with this style of gameplay, I'd probably be loving the new COD titles. I can complain all I want, but at the end of the day, I'm highly critical of things like what the in-game stores are like, not a fan of BP's, not a fan of the hyper fast movement, and just come off as an "old man complaining". We need to stop calling COD matchmaking "skill based match making" because it's not. It's "engagement based match making" .. I mean, you're even aware of that because you explained how the supposed "sbmm" works. But that's not sbmm, sbmm is garbage as it is, since it prevents you from getting better and prevents you from ever feeling like you've improved your skill by constantly forcing you into lobbies that will be sweaty for your skill level. The last 3 releases have been really disappointing but bo6 has been an enjoyable experience so far. I get why people don't like it and it has its issues the spawns are the biggest one for me there just awful especially on domination but overall I'm having fun with it.

I don’t exactly agree with your points as the older call of duty felt much more samey in terms of gunplay and movement to the point that they all just felt the exact same. Omni movement just seems like a whole lot of fun when you get the hang of it, and it does sound like you were defending camping somewhat when you were talking about how it makes it hard to hold positions. I played it for a few hours last night, and in my opinion, it's much better than MW2 or MW3, although those games aren't hard to beat. The gameplay is pretty decent, but I miss the old days of COD with the more simplistic movement, the fast-paced gameplay, and not a ton of fancy animations. I miss when Call of Duty was simplistic. Although I like BO6, I completely agree with you. It feels like Activision is trying to cater towards more Warzone and competitive players instead of just the casual gamer. You cannot play COD nowadays without sweating your nuts off.

My first cod was black ops 3, loved it and bought 3 cods after and the last one I bought was black ops 4 which I didn't like as much. A few years later I bought black ops 6 and absolutely loved it, it mixed a lot of my favorite parts of the games into it and this is by far the most fun I've had in a shooter game in a while- I'm normally a CS player but with cs2 coming out and me not enjoying that as much as csgo bo6 is perfect for me- I'd consider the way I play games something like "competitive casual" like I play in a semicompetitve manner but dont care at all if I win or lose, I think this game is for people like me

I really think a big thing that killed CoD for people in their late 20s and 30s is the move to PC. People who play PC games vs console are just a different audience in general, and Activision has done nothing but cater to them at every step. Since the communities voice is basically dictated by streamers and content creators, who largely play on PC, the direction of the game flows for those who want to turn every single shooter into Counter Strike or Valorant, not a console centric, casual mil-sim shooter.

The only cod I really got into was black ops Cold War and that was only because of zombies. @@ValiantInstance battlefield has vehicles, destructive terrain and some other herbs and spices. Meanwhile in COD there’s maybe killstreaks and most of them are either extremely gimmicky or some variant of press button to kill stuff.

Shipment looks like the old Counterstrike map 'Frozen arena(?)'. It was basically a small 'Tic-Tack-Toe board' of ice walls. And the only thing I miss about MW2 (the original) was the 360 CoD lobbies. I haven't played the series since then.

I can’t give them my money or time. The microtransactions and the fan mw2 remake both slim is enough reason. Each time you turn any bc of it you get pop ups for microtransactions and skins and it makes me feel like a homeless person shaking a cup of coins

I had fun with the new mw3 but it definitely has some issues, why can't they just release a collection like the Master chief collection but for classic cod games? So we can play world at war, mw2, and black ops 1 conveniently and "legally." I really despise Activision for turning their backs on us.

There is literally no way SBMM was your problem. Skill based matchmaking takes time to create a user database, usually 1-2 weeks. The people playing it in advance are pro, streamers and hardcore players.

@@AsdAsderson It only transfers your profile to the new authentication server. The game itself needs to recalculate your skill level (SBMM) every time new features or mechaics are added. This is because each new element requires its own unique skill score. This is handled on a separate instance.
