Tbh I don’t think the zombies mode ever needed to “change” it’s core mechanics. It innovated through its maps and what each map offered. WaW-bo1-Bo2 core player systems were identical. What made each game feel unique were what each map offered. What traps, mechanics, systems, bosses, powerups, etc. The thought that “zombies needs to change or it will get boring” is wild to me because the beauty of zombies is the gameplay could be kept the same, it was the MAPS that changed over time! Tweaking and messing with the core gameplay and mechanics of the mode got us into the mess that faces bo6 :/

Literally, the fun of zombies was how simple and arcadey it is. The game kept things interesting by giving each map a unique gimmick, its own selling point that you couldn't get on any other map. You will NEVER have the same experience playing Die Rise that you do playing Five, despite the identical mechanics

My biggest issue is that zombies no longer feels like a distinct mode like it used to. They are trying to appeal to Warzone players with open maps and there is no unique zombies hud. I used to feel vulnerable in the early rounds in bo1-bo3. That tension kept me on my toes. Now the game has become so easy that I don’t even have to think. I made it to round 90 in Cold War and it wasn’t hard. Treyarch has given us WAY too much op stuff. On round one in Cold War we have access to grenades that can kill a whole horde, a shotgun or automatic weapon that can last you until round 10, and a special ability that in many cases is a get out of jail free card, and kill streaks! The game used to have a challenge, there is far too much hand holding now. Treyarch needs to trust that players are smart enough to come up with strategies on to survive.

This "Classic Mode" doesn't exist or at least is scrapped. There's absolutely no way that they didn't advertise this in the huge marketing run that they've been on. With all of the information that they've been releasing for the last month this surely would have been mentioned in the zombies deep dive or hinted at by Kevin Drew in some way. This reminds me of when it was "leaked" that MWII 2022 was getting a second year of support that never happened because LEAKS CANNOT BE TRUSTED. Everything suggests that this mode does not exist anymore or they are waiting to release it post launch, but that does not make sense either. My theory is that Activision shut it down. I'm sure the zombies devs wanted this but Activision doesn't like fun.

They should just optimize it to current engine with the bo3 abilities to make maps. Standalone game that's round based just like everyone loved, Easter eggs, put the grind back in to high round. Fix the glitches that made games reset. Make the game fun again instead of a gun camo grind that was one and done and no one plays it after they get their guns "upgraded". I stopped playing zombies because it became so lame. bo2/bo3 was clearly the best and most popular it's ever been, I get it they tried new stuff that's fine, but end of the day it has no longevity and people don't play it anymore.

How? It's essentially any other "Sidequest" in the older games. Just instead of investing points and time into getting a Dragon Strike, or Ragnaroks, you invest into upgrading your weapon. You can still spin the box or buy wall weapons, but if you have a gun you love to use, you can invest the time and ressources to make it useable.

Milo, there is a good chance you might not see this but I’m going to go for it. I think a potential classic mode is something this game needs without a shadow of a doubt and if treyarch aren’t already working on one/have it made, they need to start working on it ASAP for this game. I think with your audience (one of the biggest zombie KZbinrs on the platform) you can start a wide spread petition to show treyarch that “hey the community loves this concept!” You have the power to not only have a huge number of people sign it but you also have close bonds with other huge KZbinrs in the community of zombies. Milo, I believe you alone are the only one who could get the gears turns on something as big as this. Cheers to classic zombies potentially coming back. I love your videos.

I know it takes a lot of dev time but what you said at the end there really resonated with me, liberty falls as a basic town map setting kind of leaves it open for some really fun seasonal variations. imagine a ‘Liberty Snowfalls’ as a Christmas variation of the map snow on the floor, decorations everywhere, zombies in Christmas outfits, snowball mechanics and a more cloudy foggy setting. And for the haunting event next year you could do ‘Liberty Fears’ change the sky box to an aether storm, have Halloween decorations everywhere, jumpscares etc. Map on its own is pretty bland but you could use its setting as a basis for fun seasonal content really well because of that. Kind of giving it a bigger purpose

TLDR: Classic mode should be the new hard mode alongside this year’s normal style of zombies with unique benefits. I think that classic mode could be a good way of adding a difficulty setting while also seemlessly keeping the new innovations in this game. You would have 3 ways of playing the zombies mode; story, normal Cold War style that we are expecting rn, and classic/hardcore mode. Where the hardcore players win as well as those who wish for more of the Cold War style. You would still have the the waw-bo3 style changes you mentioned, but for playing this more “challenging” version you get a bit more xp than normally and maybe that’s where the full secret hardcore Easter egg could be as opposed to the hand held Easter egg in story or Cold War style. I think this would make this game much more replayable because warzone players get introduced to zombies easily, while zombies fans get two different ways of playing with their own unique incentives to play them. Normal mode for loadouts for camo grinding, and hardcore for the increased XP gains and the classic feel of zombies. Which would mean warzone players are shown this “hard mode” and would interact with it bc of the increased xp gains. A super win-win imo

I've been watching a lot of your videos lately and enjoyed your perspective on a lot of the features in modern zombies as it reflects the way i feel about the direction the modes going. The biggest gripe I have with newer/modern zombies modes is the super sprinting zombies thats been around since bo4 and I personally believe that its negatively affected zombies and the mechanics of zombies. I'd like to see a video where you break that down into the good-bad-ugly

When you said "Black ops 2 in the modern warfare engine. Is that what we want?" I literally yelled "YES!" at my monitor. Like come on now, ever since it diverged after BO3, the "innovations" they've come up with only seem to muddy the core gameplay. My friends and I STILL play BO3 nearly every day! We pretty much play exclusively BO3 and IW. Only because of Zombies. I've just gotten into making custom maps for BO3 because the BO6 marketing had me even more hyped. IF there is a classic mode coming, It'll be the sole reason my friends and I purchase BO6. If there is no classic mode, we boycott the game. Full stop. Your move Treyarch. P.S. If anyone is experienced at making BO3 custom maps, I'd love to discuss things regarding the mod tools and their functions. I'm still learning but making progress fairly quickly.

I’m going to be honest. They can keep the pap tiers in a “classic” mode. The system does feel good, it gives a consistent sense of power scaling, and feels like a logical progression from BO4s system. They never really do the same pap system from game to game, so why would they do the exact same thing as old games here? I do think “Classic” mode could work. If it’s not in the game at launch, I bet it’s released sometime during the lifecycle of the game.

in my opinion if they want to keep the plate carrier system, i say the best way to do it to make both sides (classic and modern day) fans happy is to make it either one of these: a buildable thing, like the shields you find 3 parts to build the plate carrier or a powerup that zombies drop and it last 30 seconds or so.

Pistol spawn is so vital to everything in zombies. In modern warfare I never bought a wall gun and I prolly spun the box 10 times max in its lifetime. Also points per bullet and not per kill

So I just watched your last video on warzone ruining zombies and I was thinking about the armour situation. And I think I've come up with a way that "armour" can be in the game while also making the community happy. "carapace cappuccino" is what I came up with, as the name suggests the perk will turn a soldier's skin into a protective carapace. Which will reduce incoming damage by half until the carapace has been broken, once broken damage will return to normal. However once a the players health is back up to full the carapace will regenerate quickly. The only augments I can think of would be one which allows the carapace to take more damage before breaking, and the other being the ability for it to regenerate as long as your health is above 50% rather than waiting to get full health. I know armour is not gonna go anywhere anytime soon unfortunately but I would love if it did, especially in round based. But I hope ya like the idea, maybe you could casually bring it up in your next coffee break with treyarch. I mean can't hurt to try haha

At the risk of sounding weird...I am super excited to be seeing videos pop up again. 10ish years ago living with poor internet I fell in love with zombies. However round grinding became old quickly. The videos you put out made gaming fun, even offline. Its freaking dope to hear your voice talking about zombies again. Much love, keep it up. If there is a classic mode, the map design needs to change as well. The maps are designed for Warzone-style gameplay which would make classic feel sluggish given how wide everything is.

I don't know, I have trust issues with Activision and Treyarch. I feel like in making a "Classic" mode, it wouldn't truly be classic. Like, I can totally see them making a "Classic" mode for BO6 but still shoving armor, the same point system, item drops, etc. into it. Y'know, as much as people say that Zombies fans don't know what they want, I'm pretty sure most of the Classic Zombies fans just want another Black Ops 3 with new maps and slight innovations.

I think Treyarch may actually be taking inspiration from WWE on this, which I know sounds insane, but let me explain. Earlier this year Roman Reigns was the WWE champion and he had been for the previous 3 years. The fan favourite to beat him for the title was Cody Rhodes. Cody then won the royal rumble which granted him a championship match at Wrestlemania which was what most people wanted, sure it was a popular decision but still some people were sceptical. However a couple of weeks after this Cody Rhodes announces he will be relinquishing his title opportunity to give it to The Rock, which sends the entire WWE fanbase into pandemonium. WWE is getting lots and lots of media attention as the fans have had what they wanted taken away from them and WWE is arguably more talked about than it has been for at least a decade. Everyone who watched WWE (even the people who were previously sceptical) now wants Cody to go for the belt and win. After the media storm WWE then weave it into the story that Cody Rhodes actually does want the challenge for the championship and now WWE has all this extra attention and everyone in the same side. Wrestlemania 2024 goes on to be the most successful event WWE have held for decades. So how does this actually link back to Treyarch. So i think Treyarch (knowing the negative attention that cold war got) have said “right this is it, you’re getting another year of cold war/war zone zombies” which has sent the fanbase into pandemonium, which they knew would happen. People are threatening to cancel their ore-orders, threatening to not buy the game. Now just before launch i think they are going to announce classic zombies is back. Everyone rejoices, and with the extra media attention and the positive effect on the fanbase, Black Ops 6 will be more successful than it would have been if they had just announced classic zombies to begin with.

I would love to see a white board video on the guided story mode, I think that would be super interesting. I'm a pretty casual zombies player, but I also watch a lot of content, so I usually know that the easter eggs exist and have a general idea of how to do at least part of them, but my friend group that I play with is usually not and they rely on me to know the steps, so I'm actually strangely looking forward to the guided version. The easter eggs are usually some of the coolest content that we get, and I personally usually only see it if I get really luck and matchmake with people that are cool and trying to run it and don't mind dragging me along. I know that's a me issue, skill issue, etc, but I love that there is supposed to be a "contest mode" timeframe before the guided story launches (long-time Destiny player, and contest mode raids were always the biggest events of the year for the game, drove a lot of community engagement and got everyone really hyped and pulled everyone together on various platforms like reddit, twitch, and youtube to solve things as a community, while also giving the best of the best players a chance to race to be the first to complete it). I'm still looking forward to new zombies stuff, and hopefully this helps more people experience these really cool features that they've been giving us for years, even if it sort of dilutes the prestige a little. Keep up the great work on the videos, been really loving the content lately!

For what it's worth, I do think there's something to be said about not trying to make a game that pleases everyone. Not everything needs a toggle, not everything needs a hundred settings and variants just to appease every single person. I say this as someone who WANTS a classic mode. But the last thing we need is a schizophrenic design project. I'd rather just not like the game so that whoever the game IS made for gets to enjoy it. What they SHOULD do, imo, is let the OTHER CoD devs (Sledgehammer and Infinity Ward) have the innovative new Warzone-esque Zombies modes in their games, while Treyarch sticks to their style. That's a good way to please everyone without compromising the products themselves.

I feel like Liberty Falls will be the base work of two things for this game. One being a hopefully great original storyline extension with Richtofen , but also a map for the equivalent of an Outbreak map with it being one of different "auras" with which the current "light and bright" vibe may change. People in the comments are being kinda childish here "ThEy DoN't cArE aBoUt Us", if they've started this classic mode then they clearly thought about it, but were likely out of time with Activision breathing down their neck (see Cold War, MW3, or Vanguard for examples of games being rushed by Activision). With the game being LIVE SERVICE this gamemode could come out in a later season, similar to Outbreak in CW. Just because Liberty Balls looks bad doesn't mean Terminus does, we still have good content coming, there's no need to overreact or act childish.

I think it would be cool to see bo4 modifiers come back in a way where you could customize some things, but make it to where you can only switch between the classic and current but you can change the things that you want. so if you want to have classic health and spawn with any gun you want or spawn with a pistol but you have current health, you could do that. I think the best thing to do is give customization for the zombies experience without only having classic and standard

i might be alone on this, but i still like being able to level up your guns and make custom guns that you get out of the box/wall buys or even start with. IF we go back to spawning with a pistol at the very least let us spawn with our choice of pistol and attachments as we level them up. although im totally down for getting rid of armor and gun rarities.
