The groups dressed in white were a funeral procession, they're writing the death of T'Challa into the story in a way to honor Boseman's passing. We dont know who's going to wear the Panther suit, whether it'll be male or female, but my money is on it being Shuri, since she does take up the mantle briefly when T'Challa "dies" in the comics. Marvel said they're not going to recast the character out of respect for Chadwick Boseman, and even though I don't agree with their decision, I trust it. The film will be a literal love letter to Chadwick, and Im okay with it, especially if they do justice to his memeory by making the best film they can. He's watching and smiling from somewhere. We miss you, Chadwick.

The reason all the Wakandans are wearing white is because that's the colour they wear when in mourning. So instead of all black for them it's all white colours. So this movie is gonna address the death of T'Challa which is gonna be so hard hitting.

One of the best trailers i've ever seen. Hands down. This movie is a tribute to the great Chadwick. I really tear up while watching this. The movie is gonna be great and really emotional, we can see. I don't know how they are gonna end up ''killing'' character like T'Challa, but i'm sure the movie will explain everything very well. Probably the next Black Panther is going to be Shuri or Nakia (for now) , before they choose someone else. I also thing Namor is not going to be the real villain of the movie. In the comics he's more like an anti-hero. There are theories, which people claim to be real - Doctor Doom as credit scene. And basically Doom is using Namor to gain Vibranium for himself. Which explains the Soldiers on the ship. Doom is working with them. And final but not least - the tease of Riri Williams aka Ironheart in the trailer. She will debut in this movie and afterwards there is confirmed a Disney+ series for her.

I shed tears during the trailer,not even sure why,I felt so many emotions brought up to the surface that it hit like a tidle wave. I lost my pup of almost 8 years,a week away from her birthday,to kidney disease, she was battling it for the past 4 years.. So I didnt experience loss of that grand of a scale till March of this year. Felt like my world shattered. She was a shorkie. Anyway, this trailer hit that cord very hard--and then some! Lol. And then watching Namor come out in Aztec wear,was fucking awesome because my family is from Mexico so our people are feeling celebrated in a way,considering Namor is half human(Aztec and Atlantean) for the MCU version at least. 7:19 I think the scene where Ramonda says her whole family is gone takes place during the Blip. We know Shuri is alive in this movie and it wouldn't make sense for them to spoil a death like that, and both T'Challa and Shuri got snapped by Thanos. I'm guessing someone(govt., Atlanteans, whatever) came to Wakanda for help after the Snap since they had opened up to the world at that point and everyone knows they have tons of resources/technology.

Cultural differences is something that is always going to hit in movies going forward. White for example is funeral attire for some cultures. It is a moment of celebration of life. To some cultures we do not see death as a sad thing but a celebration to the life which for us all must one day find itself in the same place. So we celebrate the entire life and not just grieve the death.

It may have already been mentioned but, the scene when Queen Ramonda says her entire family is gone may take place during the blip. Shuri was blipped as well.

@Definitely Not Definitive, 1:16 this is Princess Shuri 1:19 Queen Ramonda is on the left and she looks to be holding her daughter's arm who's on her right. Shuri is holding T'Challa's Black Panther helmet in her hands. This isn't a funeral per se but a celebration of his life; hence, the Wakandans dancing and party in the streets. 1:42 notice the doctor/midwife inspecting the baby's feet--they're winged! This is Namor's birth, and this has to be the past as we see Namor in his headdress moments later which is the present. Atlanteans don't have winged feet, which is why I think the person inspecting the feet shows a bit of surprise, but I also suspect that Namor fulfills some sort of prophecy which leads to the events of this movie. 2:06 the woman in red in Riri Williams, but you might know her by her superhero name, Ironheart. 4:06 She's 63 years old! 4:51 I think this speech, like Namor's birth, is in the past, during the blip years. While at the UN or the like where she's about to address world leaders in the trailer, the men around her lower their mics before she speaks. I think she's about to close up shop, return Wakanda to what it was before she went through so much pain, loss and suffering. Her speech sounds like someone responding to someone asking to give more to a person's who's given more than she can possibly bear. 5:20 this makes the most sense and fits with the comics. Phase Four is a changing of the guard, the MCU rebuilding the team for the next big fight that's coming in Phase Five. I suspect that this is one of the reasons why they didn't recast T'Challa. Why recast him if you are already replacing Steve Rogers, Tony Stark, Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton? The MCU retired those heroes with the actors who played them, so why not offer the same curtesy to T'Challa? I understand the counter argument. I'm just pointing out that the MCU keeps one actor to a particular role. That said, there is still a chance that we'll see (get?) a T'Challa variant via survivors of a universe destroyed via incursion, I suspect that that's how the MCU will bring over the bulk of the mutants. Shuri has been portrayed as the brainy little sister who didn't care much for politics. She looked happy that she didn't have to do the things her brother did, and it showed in her attitude and character. She's going to have to step up, to support her mother and her people. I don't see Shuri becoming Queen, but the protector of Wakanda, just as T'Challa did when his father T'Chaka ruled as King in his later years. I'm not saying Shuri can't do the job, just that I think they're going to mirror what's already happened with the men in the family. How do you heal Queen Ramonda's pain and sudden coldness towards the world? I think that's the challenge this movie is going to have to address, as she looks to be turning back the clock. And with raiders raiding their rig at sea and the Atlanteans attacking Wakanda, Ramonda might be on the verge of doing what her nephew did in the last Black Panther movie, she's one bad day away from making others share her losses. I think the answer to this is Nakia. Thor Love and Thunder places the MCU in the year 2025 or 2026, though I think it's the latter. Thor tells Jane that they last met 8 years, 7 months and 6 days ago, which was just before Ragnarok--that took place in 2017. Phase 3 ended in the year 2023, five years after Thanos erased half of all life. T'Challa and Shuri were confirmed to be dead, and this is what I believe Queen Ramonda was speaking to in her speech. We know that O'Koye survived, but that's about it, as we get no other confirmation this way or that about the citizens of Wakanda. I suspect that Nakia survived and that she gave birth to T'Challa's son who we haven't met yet...though maybe we see him in the trailer at 2:36 (O'Koye is protecting a young man--the Dora's job is to protect the royal family). Nakia isn't Ororo Munroe, but that doesn't matter as the MCU has never been the comics anyway, it's just drawn inspiration from them. Perhaps in this universe, Nakia is the mother of T'Challa's son Azari. And unlike the comics in which Azari is born with the powers of both his parents, maybe he's born with just his father's. If the heart shaped herb is truly gone forever, Azari being born with the powers in him already solves that problem. His father's story would be able to continue through him, and I think that would be a fine way to continue T'Challa's story. T'Challa's son wouldn't be old enough to be a Black Panther now, so Shuri stepping up to be the protector of Wakanda at this time makes the most sense...to me anyway.

This is also setting up the spiritual successor to Iron Man called Iron Heart. I think it's Shuris friend you see in one of the sceenes where they fist bump, also you can see the forging of the iron heart in another. PS I hope Nakia becomes the next Black Panther.

A lot of cultures, especially with Southeast Asian and African roots, wear white to funerals. If you look closely, when they flash marvel studios, the two central figures are Ramonda and Shuri and Shuri is carrying the Black Panther helmet. So...T'Challa's funeral. But Atlanteans are blue in Marvel, Namor isn't because he is half human and also a mutant. But the woman that Shuri greets, who is hammering out an iron heart, is Riri Williams aka Ironheart who in the comics builds an AI of Tiny Stark and then her own iron man armor. She has a confirmed show coming Fall 2023 and she goes to MIT, so there's a question if we will see MJ and Ned in that show too. Anyway, this trailer made me cry. Great reaction as always!

Namor is not Atlantean in the movie. He rules a place called Talocan in the film which is similar in name to Tlālōcān a paradise in Aztec mythology for those who died by drowning or by lightning.

Very nice reaction. I think its a funeral. The white and someone is carrying the black panther helmet in the top down view 6:13. I think when she said her familiy is gone, its during those 5 years half the population was gone.

In some of African cultures, we wear white for funerals/celebrations. 7:47 : those blue skinned people are the atlanteans, Namoor's skin isn't blue because he's a hybrid ( half human and half atlantean). Hence why unlike the others who are wearing masks to breath on land, he doesn't need that.

I'm been going through all the Wakanda Forever trailer reviews and something that struck me in ALL OF THEM, was the ease by which the reviewers "got" emotional elements of the review. From the song choice reassuring the watching viewers (and no doubt the cast) that it will indeed "be alright"; to the fact that every character we knew from the first film had at least one scene in the trailer of the complete emotional devastation of losing someone. Every review of the trailer I watched took me right back to the feeling I had when I watched it for the first time.... And then, I came across your review. I have never felt so moved as to write a comment on a KZbin video, as these are the tasks i rarely have time for. But after watching the first 6 minutes of your review (I had to switch it off!) I felt the need to say something. ANYTHING to let you see, THIS IS NOT OK!! I was born and grew up in London, England and am not aware of what its like being a black person in America. (We have our issues here). To TOTALLY miss what this film meant to your black fellow citizens is appalling! Not ONE reference to the passing of Chadwick Boseman in your awful review. Not ONE reference to the TOTALLY obvious emotional distress the cast and crew must have been under during filming. Not ONE reference to the skill and obvious sensitivity Mr Coogler in handling the first trailer of the next film after the tragic and untimely death of Mr. Boseman. The fact you didn't comment on any of the above (that other reviewers saw) didn't really bother me. The fact that you only seemed bothered about how old Angela Bassett is and whether Nemor is in the going to attack, was annoying, but nothing more than that. But the fact that the guy BURST OUT LAUGHING at the end of a trailer that's had most of us in tears WAS TRULY APPALLING!!!! LAUGHING???? ARE YOU KIDDING ME??!!!!!!! I don't care what joke you just heard, the LAST thing you do after watching that is to LAUGH!!! This is a typical example of white people simply NOT READING the room!!! You can't continue to laugh at our pain!!!!!!! I sincerely hope you watch your video again with "new eyes" and then take whatever action you deem necessary to fix the issue. We as individuals can't change the "ENTIRE" world overnight. But one step in the right direction to change "our world" and we will do more good than harm for the collective.

These are not reviews. They are reactions. Getting mad at someone for not including something in it is utterly ridiculous. And I didn’t see the other one that you linked but literally the pinned comment acknowledges Chadwick and his family. You think you are some beacon of hope against racism and for justice, but in reality you are making things worse. Saying things like “another example of white people not reading the room” is not helping the problem and only extends the cultural divide. It makes you no better than your so called enemy. I hope YOU take a look at YOURSELF with “new eyes” and try to fix the issue that is your mentality.

The White Procession was T’Challa’s Funeral. Based around Yoruba beliefs, they wear White instead of Black since it’s more a Celebration of Life then it is Mourning the Dead.

iron heart will probably be from oakland and shuri discovers her when she was going to the science part of the wakanda outreach program set up by t'challa at the end of the 1st black panther movie . the speech that the queen mother gives about losing her whole family probably happened after the blip . the soldiers who are attacking the wakandas on the rig in the ocean also are doing that after t'challa was dusted during the blip and i also think that namor and his people are also attacking wakanda after t'challa was blipped , remember okaye said there was an earthquake at the bottom of the ocean off the african coast , has to do something with namor

In several non-western cultures, the color white is worn for funerals/celebrations of life/passing-on. Also, the Queen may have been speaking of losing everyone due to the "Blip".

I think shuri was one of the people who got snapped by thanos so that’s probably what Queen mother meant when she said her “entire family is gone.” I’m not completely sure if shuri was snapped tho, might be misremembering.

My theory is based on their underwater physiology, they turn blue when the step onto land indicating oxygen deprivation on the skin sirface. But once they're back in the marine setting it normalizes. The exception being Namor because of his half human lineage. I'm basing this off of clues in the trailer. Like Namora. She's blue (@2:26 min mark) when she's on land, but her skin color changes (@2:35 min mark) to normal in that brief smashcut scene of her under water.

It's hard to say why Angela Bassett says that her entire family is gone, since Shuri is still alive. Yes Ken, that is indeed Namor, and loving the Aztecan/Mayan look of his. He looks good. When you see Namor being born, you can see the winged feet. Ryan Coogler has confirmed that T'Challa is dead in Black Panther 2, but the question is does he die from Namor causing Wakanda and Atlantis to go to war. While I'm not a fan of Riri Williams/Iron Heart she's the one greeting Shuri. She's the one hammering an iron heart. Really excited to see how it goes down in this movie. A lot of people believe M'Baku will be the next Black Panther since he was the next one in line (to say) when they believed T'Challa died to Killmonger.
