I've damn near been brought to tears by every black panther interview/ video even the silly ones that don't even speak on the social issues, it's so freshing to see black women being great and not just the typically racially ambiguous black women that Hollywood only like to cast. Mon Ember Paula Patton, Zoe Saldana, Jurnee Smollett, Thandie Newton are the actresses I had in mind when I wrote that post, just to name a few. All black women who are considered racially ambiguous and who play black roles. These are the typical faces you see on screen to represent black women. Fair skin and eurocentric features shouldn't be the only representation of black and black beauty you see on screen and yet it is. These women get the roles, Thandie even played Nina Simone who is a dark skinned woman with black features. You're telling me Hollywood couldn't find an actress who looked a little more similar to Nina than her? That's what I meant in my first post. Darker skin women were shown as strong, beautiful, powerful, self-assured, desirable, and respected in black panther. Those attributes are not usually shown to those of darker complexions. That doesn't happen often so it was nice to finally see that. All I was saying, you might not agree but that's ok too.
