@Hydra Dominatus I think this was absolutely a "forced diversity". I don't remember any story that Atlantis was related to the Mayans. I think was in response to the complaint "Where's "our" Black Panther? made by some Latino journalists. There were dozens of Marvel movies made without complaint.... until Black Panther. And the fact that it was so successful amplified the envy. I enjoyed the Antonio Banderas Zorro movies with no problem and there were no voiced complaints. But the bigger problem is I predict this will cause some tension between groups of people. They should have just used the actor for Namor and left the Atlanteans as is. But due to shifting demographics this was probably a good financial move.... so hopefully..."Everything gonna be alright"

I’ve watched this trailer a couple of times and it still hits hard when Angela delivers that line followed by the mural of T’Challa (Chadwick). But there’s something so powerful about the transition to Kendrick saying “We gon be alright”.

Namor in this film takes inspiration from different Indigenous Mexican/Central American aspects. The actor learned the Maya language for the role. So it's an Indigenous Maya twist to the Atlantean counterpart of Namor. Not to mention the person playing his mother is an Indigenous Maya Kaqchikel actress from Guatemala

With the first BP movie in production at the same time as Ragnarok, Infinity War, and Ant-Man & The Wasp, it got short-changed in terms of the amount of time its VFX teams got to work on the movie relative to those other 3 movies. I'm glad they saw it as a priority to rectify that this time round! Also having Autumn Duralde - the cinematographer from the Loki show on board looks to have paid off with the stunning visuals! Having Doom as a background schemer who manipulates Namor into attacking Wakanda would be a great way to introduce him to the MCU!

Yeh the intense crunch marvel puts on the VFX houses is coming out these days back then no one in the gen pub knew.. didn't help feige pressured Coogler to change the third act fight last minute (coogs wanted a more personal visceral battle feige thought a bigger CGI focused setpiece would "loft" the movie.. Ironically) it's also ironic how BPs vfx budget was squeezed last minute because Iger Horn &Feige thought it wouldn't do too well (they even dropped antman &the wasp promo in the middle of their global premier 🤦🏾‍♂️) &then it turned out to be one of their most successful IPs.. hell they even downplayed Tchallas role in Infinity War because they didn't think he'd be that we'll received Then when the last minute numbers came in

1. Aneka is in, which means we might see the Midnight Angels story in which Ramonda accidentally causes a pro-democracy rebellion when she was forced to choose between morality and the rule of law. 2. Riri Williams, and based on the timing, we might see her in Armor Wars with War Machine. 3. Atlantis and Namor!!!!! 4. I can't wait to see who the new Black Panther is. I'm hoping for Shuri. Remember: Black Panther is a title, not a name, and it's been passed down for thousands of years. 5. Ryan Coogler is nerd Jesus. What Ramonda says about losing her entire family suggests to me that at the time she said it, Shuri was/will be trapped between the land of the living and the dead (something that happened in the comic books). I'm guessing that they are going to use this as part of the story about who gets the mantle of Black Panther next.
