Nice simple explanation on why you should decandle and what happens if you don't. About to Start working on my first black pine ever which is scary. But this vid has been super helpful. Thank you Jason

Hi Jason, Love the way you explain black pines care. Please advise if the 'leggy' tree could be cut back to the first or second year's needles in order to make it more compact, or is it too late?

Hi Jason, I always find your videos very informative.. I'm from India, where pines are rarely grown as bonsai..I'm growing a pine since 4-5 yrs...Will I get a thick trunk if I keep cutting candles every season.. As far as I know, to get a fat trunk, you need to grow ur tree as tall as possible... Thanks

Just acquired my first Black Pine from your nursery. I have quite a few other trees, this is my first and only Pine. The one I got from you is small, had a trunk chop, and is shooting many small candles, and I am now trying to get as much info as I can on this new project tree. I don't know much about Pines except for some potting tips, but really need to get good reliable info on how to start developing such a young pine, AND, when to start fertilizing as early spring arrives here in VA?

Love your videos, man. I have a black pine and still a little worried about plucking back the old needles. Should I use the pulling technique or cutting at the base?

Hi Jason, I didn't fertilise my black pines for a couple of years as I didn't have the time to work on them. This year I started fertilising and the needles are soooo much longer than the previous year. I'm in a dilemma with regards to 'cleaning them up' as I want to remove the long needles and leave the short ones (last year's). Should I leave them all?

If u do miss a couple seasons of decandeling, can u go back a couple seasons on the branch and cut back there? Will it send new shoots like u had decandled?

Is it enough to decandel Black pine just once a year or should it be done on Fall too

Check out RP seeds on Amazon. I’ve just bought 10 seeds for around £2 👌

@@BigGriffDog427 I purchased some seeds from them and they did not turn out to be what they where suppose to be, they refused to refund me too so I made a PayPal claim against them, I certainly won’t be buying seeds from them again !

@@petergrisdale6797 that’s a shame , I ordered some and planted 3 seeds and now have 3 small Japanese Black Pines around 6 months old. All doing well.

@@BigGriffDog427 mine where meant to be black pine too but looked something like cedar lol, they even had cotyledon leaves on them that no pine has. But on the plus side it made me look around for a decent seed supplier and I can highly recommend Forestart in the U.K. 😉
