제니가 뉴질랜드에서 4년정도 유학했다는데 솔직히 말해서 어휘력이 보통이 아니네요~대체로 3년에서 4년사이로 유학한 친구들 보면 의사소통은 가능하지만 어휘력이나 표현력이 뛰어난 사람은 극히 드물었거든요..이것도 엄청난 노력과 재능의 결과이겠지요ㅎㅎㅎ

@Villa Charlie ㅇㄱㄹㅇ임 내 친구는 해외에서 살지도 않았고 어학연수 한 번 안가본 애인데 어릴때 영어유치원, 원어민과 꾸준한 대화, 영어로된 책, 영화, 애니 등등 이런거 많이 봤다는데 지금 보니까 원어민들이랑 대화하면 막힘없이 술술 나오고 그냥 어휘력이나 발음도 존나 하이틴 여주가 쓸 법한 발음이여서 신기함 확실히 어릴때부터 배우는게 효과는 짱인듯

Chungha is using American Accent .. Same as other Korean idols who were from US .We got few idol who speaks Aussie accent which is similar with British accent.I notice Jennie's accent is so strong and modulates her voice when she do VCR .She usually had this whispering sound like voice when it's a formal interview .If she is excited it will tone up .One thing why I love her is her strong accent ,diction and pronunciation .She really emphasize the words be it talking or singing...

In my opinion ChungHa is like just a normal person talking in English while Jennie was trained how to interact will when it comes to Interviews by her parents since we know how rich she is.. maybe they are trained during in YG trainee, even Rose change her way of speaking in interview..Anyways I love both of them in their accent in English

I feel like it depends who's Jennie is talking with. She tends to have her strong kiwi accent when they were touring in Europe and back to American accent when they were in US. Plus, she mentioned on one interview that she and her mother went to US scouting for schools. She did not mention how long did they stay but prolly that's why she has an american accent sometimes.

Chungha is very authentic in her English, very down to earth. She talks to you as if she is your friend. Jennie is more eloquent and obviously she had more training in public speaking. Both are natural English speakers and both are confident women. Love them both!

um, there was really nothing wrong when Chungha said "That's a funny question". Reporter wasn't frustrated. She literally meant that it's "funny" not "nonsense" . If you say "That's a great question" it might change what Chungha actually meant. Just sayin ❤️ also, amazing take on Second Language Acquisition. I mean, yeah you can teach Grammar and all, but, it wouldn't sound "natural" if you don't use it everyday. *clap clap*

I was also confused about this video that the narrator is pointing out specifically the reporter was 'frustrated'. Cuz, I don't think the whole conversation was causing any of the circumstances. The reporter seems a bit puzzled, but there was nothing wrong with Chungha saying the question was a 'funny' one. Since I thought the question was funny, she was not being rude over there. Everybody's is different from what they've received in communication, when I watched the conversation, I think she truly meant the question was just 'comical', but nothing sarcastic about it. Therefore, I wish the narrator, or an editor, whoever did this video correct the term since 'frustration' is quite too strong, also negative and misleading word choice there. I feel like it's mismatching for the whole scene.

Jennie has friends around the world that she still keep in touch with. She has friends in america, new zealand and france whom she converse in english, so it's no wonder that her accent is kinda mixed. Not to mention, she also enjoys watching american and british series. Anyways, I find her voice soothing no matter what language she speaks.

Jennie speaks at a relatively slower pace. As a non-native English speaker, doing this enables me to gather my thoughts and express them cohesively. It also prevents me from using fillers so it could be a technique that Jennie is purposely using during interviews. I'm a New Zealander and Yes Jennies English will adjust to Americans as they sometimes have trouble understanding the NZ accent. I've done it before only out of respect for my American friends it sounds slightly British but we do pronounce words funny like Hair sounds like Heh and Car is Cah 😂

If you listen very very closely to Chungha, she has a subtle Southern twang that's only really noticeable if you're familiar with how Southern accents pitch up at certain points. And the vowels are ever so slightly different (like when she says "used to it," the "u" is rounded a bit more than standard

Jennie doesn’t really have a kiwi accent. Her English accent is mixed with American, Korean, and Kiwi so it’s like all types of English mixed together. She still has a korean accent whenever she speaks English and she’s not 100% with the kiwi accent and so I feel like she’s confused.

참고로 청하의 영어는 Texas 발음이 아닙니다. 미국 표준발음 이예요. 에릭남 하고 예기할때 Texas 발음을 흉내냈지만 잘하지는 못했읍니다. 에릭씨도 미국남부에서 왔지만 Southern Accent 가 없고요. 에릭은 물론이고 청하도 미국발음은 native 수준이예요. 두분의 차이는 에릭은 완벽하게 sophisticate 한 단어들을 쓰고 청하의 단어는 조금 단순하다는것...

김다솔 한글이 서툴러서... 실례합니다. So then I’ll write in my native English. Both Chungha and Eric Nam speak without any regional accents. The “proper” American English is often considered to be those spoken in California, although that applies to many other states. Southern states (except Florida) have a distinct accent, so does Texas, Midwest has some peculiarities in certain words, and Mid-North has certain pronunciations that are distinctive. New York has a distinctly different accent (reference Rocky Balboa or accents from Goodfellas), and Boston’s is slightly different than that (JFK) although very similar. The fact that neither Chungha nor (when using negative expressions, “nor” is more appropriate than “or”) Eric have any accents despite having lived long-term in Texas and Georgia, respectively, is not unusual, as most Koreans tend to not pick up regional accents. I was just pointing that out, apologies for my elementary Korean writing skills...

"interesting" question instead of "funny" question.. I feel genuinity in Chungha.. she speaks more fluid than Jennie.. Jennie's "Kiwi" accent, it feels like she's trying so hard to put an accent in the way she speaks. She use Australian accent btw. I know kiwi accent personally because I live in NZ and it doesn't sound like hers. NZ is ethnically diversed so you can hear a lot of accents such as from Asians, Australians, Europeans, and Pacific Islanders which we kind of more adapted the Aussie accent. The only Kiwi accent I consider is from a Maori or a European Maori.

Jennie is fun to watch in interviews as she could literally flip the switch on or off at any time. She would make an outstanding translator. As that is the kind of person you need in those situations. A good example of this would be the the translator for Parasite director Bong Joon-Ho. She was able to translate from Korean to English and do it in a way that got a laugh out of the audience. That is so freaking hard to do articulately and in the right context. Jennie would be so good at that as well. :b

@@maddynicolelee In the clips shown, I think Jennie code switches through use of her accent and mannerisms. Her accent becomes more American when speaking to the American interviewer, but more of New Zealand when she's speaking to the camera by herself. She also code switches in her mannerisms, being fun and playful when interacting with fans or on stage, but more elegant, refined, and serious when interviewing. Those are the things I noticed, at least.
