exactly! I take BRMC's Howl as one of the best albuns from the 00's. And still nobody talks about it.

BRMC is one of those bands (along with Elliott Smith, DFA 1979, Cat Power, Franz Ferdinand, etc.) that I quote when I find myself in front of some dude at a party who plays it all like "Mah, there's never been any good music after the 70's". Well, he can take that one.

The bassist is playing both a bass line and a melodic tasty lead to nicely fill the harmonic palate. Listen to when he plays up the neck. It's really nice. And his bass is overdriving his tube amp, getting a nice mild distortion that that bass can produce and still sound like a bass. Most basses lose their bottom when distorted, but, the vintage 1960's Gibson EB2 with its monster neck pickup doesn't lose its bottom.

I always dismissed BRMC for some reason. I don't know why. I kind of just lumped them in with all the new-indie rock crap that was coming out in the early 2000's and never cared to listen to them. Then came Southland Tales. I got the soundtrack for all those Moby instrumentals, and found this song on there. Still, for a good 6 months, never listened to it. Then I threw this on a mix randomly last week and fucking fell in love. There's magic happening between the notes, yo.

Yes it did kill me. I'm very jealous you got to see two amazing bands, but happy that you got to enjoy fantastic music. What concert did you go to? I hear QOTSA just fills the room with energy and everyone is jumping up and down and just having a hell of a time. You're a fan of Interpol? They're geniuses and their music is one of the greatest. Just the way Paul sings can take you away.

@miguelmendez92 I don't think he's feeding his ego. I'm sure there are people who listen to top 40 stuff who really get into it but the fact is they come and go. That's the nature of POPULAR music. BRMC fans don't dump the band when some new hot Indie shit comes along. And of course there's no line seperating the two points, there's some blur but overall I'd say people who listen to this are more vested in the experience of the music.

Honestly I can't fathom why they would be paired with STP... I don't hear the connection. It's like when The Flaming Lips toured with Candlebox... Honestly, while it may be your opinion that STP is better than BRMC one cannot deny that BRMC are better writers and overall better musicians (namely guitarists and bassists).
@3rdseal16 жыл бұрын
why can´t anybody be into both directions?!? numetal wasn´t always funny, but there are some good bits...but i love BRMC too - so where´s the problem? both bands got great tunes, that´s how i see it...

Why are so many people Scientologists? does that make them all right? I didn't think I'd need to equip myself with 'backup' when I clearly stated this was a subjective issue. Britney Spears is famous she must be a genius, a real Syd Barrett. I could go on, but I expect you to interject with a 'fuck you man, what the fuck do you listen to!?' about now...

@BenGreeneAllMyLife16 жыл бұрын
I saw them both last night. And yes STP puts on a better show. These guys are good, but a frontman like Scott gets people going. ..makes for a better show.
