The one interesting thing (to me) that this campaign has is the Avatars, that can act as an automa for an Avatar mage that you can play against solo or add to a two player game, etc.

Yeah, some sort of upgrade kit pledge would be real nice : the color rings, some kind of punchboard to hide rooms effect to simulate a destroyed state, maybe a cross over avatar with one of BRW minis...

Thanks Alex! Almost had to think for myself on this one BUT now I know I'm getting the $50 BRW core since I know my gaming group seldom plays games past the core box. I stopped all in backing long time ago. Core games only and if they like it that much Like Folklore the affliction (got all the expansions) cause they wanted to keep playing. That's the only one we've made it past a core box. We are a campaign oriented group though mostly. Have a good one!

@@BoardGameCo Thanks. I just bought a BRW and got Sator separately just before they announced so feel a little burned (no one's fault and i do have great game). That said, I'm l on the fence on my pledge and definitely feel this is a 2.0 based on everything I have seen no matter what they say. If it were a epansion or standalone it would have similar card layout icons etc. If the cards, quests and events are different from the original I'm more interested continuing to back.

40mm minis makes this an easy nope for me. Part of me doesn't mind the board game industry moving more and more towards that scale. Saves me money.

Yeah I agree with you on about everything. I backed the game for now (for the 48h bonus) but I barely touched the content of the Satyr Box I don't really need a complete new box. At the same time I like the new tiles and the tweaks they did. It will be interesting to see at the end of the campaign how much content is added with the stretch goals.

I was looking forward to this video and I find that your opinion is very appropriate regarding this game and considering the background, as you say, if one wants a BRW experience I could buy the retail version for 50 USD, in my case there is no one Spanish version of BRW for which this campaign is an opportunity for me, at the moment I really like the game I feel that it is a version on steroids of Colt Express (game that I love), my question is, do you think the miniatures are justified in this new version? because from what I have investigated, in the old BRW the miniatures did not last long on the board and their purpose went into the background

I bought allin BRW original version. only played once. Receiced my replace tile just a few days ago. I am confused about this one, a better 2nd edition?

It's all compatible with the original. Just different, not necessarily an objective improvement except for now there are AI to play against in solo or low player count games which should be a big plus.

This is an easy pass for me considering I don't enjoy direct head-to-head vs combat type games. Although it is still kind of tempting because of the miniatures. Lol I'm also a lot more hesitant considering I'm still waiting on Nova Aetus: Renaissance and I'm not too thrilled about backing a company with multiple ongoing undelivered projects.

I own the first one and I think I'll be backing this one too. Colored bases, better use of the tiles (and less set up time, because of the printed powers on the new rooms), avatars to add to my 2 player games (which is the way I play the most), variable setups for shorter games... It's true that it's "more of the same", but on the other hand it could bring the game more often to the table.

@@r.l.jeffries1091 I'm quite biased in that BRW is my favorite board game. I love how it has so many facets wrapped smoothly into one package (action programming, deckbuilding, arena combat, and sort of worker placement and area control). Some would certainly call it fiddly though. The deckbuilding is especially fantastic and unique with some of the best card combos I've seen in the genre. Each school of magic feels unique and expertly fine tuned. However, the game is hard to recommend as the rulebooks are a total mess, the iconography is lacking, and it's a huge table hog. I can already tell that the iconography issues are fixed in Rebirth, but can't say that the rulebooks will fare any better. Basically the entire experience is a hassle unless you truly love the experience and are willing to put in the work to memorize all the little rules and get to know all the card combos.

Even if anticipating the future unlocked content... These KS prices, man! 😬 I just late backed Primal and it will bust a hole on my wallet. I’ll probably follow your advice to lock the early bird, but also probably pass it in the end. There are a lot of good games coming every month and every year (and we know there are a good number of very exciting titles coming this year!). It’s healthy to practice one’s self control :) Thank you, Alex. As always, great video!

Watched some playthrough from Shea on Rahdo's channel and now I really want to play it. The more I see it though, the less I feel the need to own it because it looks like the setup is really rough.. I also don't think that the majority of my game group would want to play it with me. I would definitely want to play it, but without a group to play this kind of game... I just don't know about owning it myself. Plus all the red flags from LMS in general... I backed the EB pledge but unless I can figure out more reasons to own it, I might have to cancel...

I bet building instead of destroying might help the 2 players games. That was my biggest issue with the original: 2 players isn’t exciting and 4 inexperienced players takes forever!

I think the backing of KS is now more luxury then ever, as per your other videos, the price point is high but that is what I expect these days considering what is in the box. But Shipping again this is the new norm, we don't have to like it but it is the new reality about shipping.

Game looks great and having a rulebook and so much content up on launch is excellent. Sadly, not sure I can afford it at 1/3 the cost of core in additional shipping. Meh. I'm sorely tempted by this but I'm primarily a solitaire gamer (especially with covid still being a factor), so I think despite the temptation I'm going to have to skip this one. The theme, art style etc etc all really appeal but with the solo being such an unknown (and scant information on how it was in the previous version) it seems foolish to back, at least for me.

@@xavifito1991 You can often get actions taken, or worse yet - having your movement stripped away, which means you're likely not getting room activations and progressing quests. In one instance, I spent like 3 or 4 rounds constantly getting sent back to my starting area an unable to fulfill a quest that was 3 rooms away; it was really annoying and unfun in a Munchkin kind of way. Quests and events can also feel pretty random and lucky based on your location on the board. I think they did a good job scaling them in general with the moon phases, but I wish there was a bit more done about the swingy aspect.

I feel kinda cheated because the original KS was a mess and most of the stuff isn't even compatible with a solo mode. I would maybe be interested in an upgrade pack with some of the solo content. I saw a comment hinting at a sator box upgrade, but we shouldn't have to pay for that. It shouldn't of come in a brown boring box in the first place.

I really like BRW, its a really good/great game, however I'm not backing this because I can't see myself ever going though all the content I've got already, maybe I'll grab an expansion if they are cross compatable and something jumps out to me but currently despite me feeling this is a really great game I just don't need more, I'm so saturated in content for it already.

I am in right now but I am not happy that LMS is including VAT. With all the cost increases due to the pandemic, it just seems unethical to pass along other personal tax responsibilities to people who get no benefit from those taxes. I have had several KS projects charge taxes separately in the pledge manager. I have raised the issue on the actual KS comments and I hope LMS will take heed and change their model. I may eventually drop my pledge due to this issue as I become more adamant about about this tax issue.

How is passing along those taxes to non EU people fair or ethical? US backers just have to suck it up, like the rest of the world has when kickstarters mainly cater to US backers at the cost of everyone else.
