I was lucky to see the big heart and soul of this man, in 1991. He made such a great inspiration on me, apart from his music. He became friends with a friend of mine in AA, and spent a lot of time helping him...even put him up in a hotel till the rehab facility Bill wanted him to have had an opening. He supported my friend's music, though he was "just" a local musician like me. He learned all my friends songs to play a Fourth of July picnic, Long Beach, 1991. He practiced with us, in my friends living room, till his Dad told us to turn it down!! After that we practiced in Bill's rehearsal space. What a humble and good man, Bill Ward.

I drank like Bill did, from the age of 13 until 38. I understand where he's coming from. Think about this: Bill made it out the other side, Bonzo & Moony didn't.

"What is your relationship like with Ozzy?" "It is really meaningful, it is at a depth where we are critically honest with each other, so it is a wonderful relationship... I have a deep love for him and total respect for him..." That's sad.

Thanks Bill. Nobody ever thanks artists for going through all the trials and tribulations of being musicians, and going through all the shit to give the public such great music. One of the best. Thanks.

Love You, Bill. Next to Gene Krupa, Buddy Rich and Joe Morelo you are my greatest influence as a trap player, percussionist and drummer. I played in a Sabbath tribute band called Fury for a number of years, I barely remember it. 🖤
@Rayburn587 ай бұрын
Joe Morelo, unfortunately most on this string have no clue who he is. Only us old timers remember him along with fellow greats Dave Brubeck, Eugene Wright, and Paul Desmond.
