Black Sabbath - The Writ - Guitar Cover
The final track of the sixth Sabbath studio album released in July of 1975 (unless you count "Blow On a Jug", haha...) Man, this album....it became an obsession for my friends and I back in high school; we'd spend hours and hours obsessing over every nuance. Especially this song, trying to figure out the lyrics and stuff. No internet back then, and there wasn't much available info, so we didn't know what the subject matter was really about, but it sure felt like Ozzy was speaking to us at times. Of course now we all know where all the angst and the angry sound came from, and the title makes sense as well - the stories behind the making of this record have become the stuff of legend. Interestingly, this is one of only a handful of songs where Ozzy wrote the lyrics. And they're great!
The mellow, ballad-y parts near the end seem to have a harpsichord and several overlaid guitar parts, including an acoustic. For the life of me I can't pick out the exact parts, so I'm just playing a basic major chord over those parts. Not album-accurate, I know... (shrug)
Tuning is C#, with a +6 cent adjustment for accuracy.
I'm doing these cover videos purely for my own enjoyment - while I write for several upcoming planned projects that should hopefully take form this year. Thought I'd share for anyone interested. I figure them out by ear, so any mistakes are solely my own. I think they're mostly right. Cheers.
