Rarely does the cover beat the original, but in this case Black Sabbath made the song their own.

@@ANationalAcrobat whose frickin' song is it, then: it's total blues, like nobody's-ever-done-the-blues, these guys were masters, even on the first album: totally the coolest guitar-god-ever, but with the greatest drums'n'bass, unlike any other blues band before or since~, and then they went'n' invented their own frickin' genre, and didn't even need the blues, even tho they totally own'd the blues, heck, they pwn'd the blues, just wit' that first record: boom!
@ANationalAcrobat3 жыл бұрын
@@tinfoilhatter The Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation recorded this song in 1967. It was much shorter and Sabbath took it to a different level and I totally agree with everything you said. The funny thing is that Ozzy didn’t have the lyrics to the song, so he got them by ear and misheard the part “I was warned about you, baby,” which then changed to “I was born without you, baby”.
@tinfoilhatter3 жыл бұрын
@@ANationalAcrobat oh wow, no wonder that bit-of-lyric never made much sense to me!
@Guy_de_Loimbard3 жыл бұрын
The original lyric was "I was warned about you baby, but my feelings were a little bit too strong." Not only does that explain the song title, but it also just makes a lot more sense. I never understood why Black Sabbath changed that lyric.
@ANationalAcrobat3 жыл бұрын
For sure. I believe the change was unintentional. Simply misheard by Ozzy.
@user-yf9qt6oj4e Жыл бұрын
"born" instead "warned" it also make sense. It means that he has a emotional dependency for someone else, but this dependency isn't really necessary, but psychology because he lived all his life without the other person. Then starts the solo of 7 minutes. It means that he start to stab the woman, then the police come, he start to hide and run, a persecute starts. He was busted in 6:55. Then he was in jail and has a while new life in there, but was so sad like we can see in 7:55. Then he get mad, plan a rebeleion and start a in 9:03. The chorus starts again "my feelings were a little bit to strong" then he was dead by the police and the song is over

the whole record, was like, the best first album , with several best-songs-of-all-time, it was literally too eff'n-good! nowadays, it totally wouldn't-be-allowable-by-law, or perhaps by one of them evil record-companies... i bet we haven't heard-nuthin'-yet, and i don't guess i even wanna, but we've just heard, some if not all of the big record companies, were largely, and often, up-to-no-good, plus they treated a lotta artists, badly which was quite bad enough and i hope they'd not be that way, if they could go back and do it again: too bad there weren't whistleblowers , that i ever heard of, or who ever made it too far, eh? i would hope there's still some whistleblowers willing to tell-the-story, just for-the-record~ maybe this particular company was clean: i have no idea: was it warner bros.? hey, if so, then they were exceptional, right?
