i love the scene between flint and silver where he tells flint “it’s not your fault”. flint has a tendency to hold himself responsible in situations like this but i feel like silver’s words hold even more meaning to flint because at the end of season 3, silver told flint that it seemed like the people closest to him met their ends because of his relationship with them (miranda, thomas, gates). So for flint to hear silver say “it’s not your fault” i would think that would be even meaningful for him

For some reason, after so so many rewatches and reactions, it's only just hit me, this was the second time Billy has been tortured. The first time, it made him want to protect his brothers so that no one would ever have ro experience that again. This time it came at the hands of his brothers. This was brutal for him, not just because of the physical torture itself.

"You chose, live with it" is definitely the theme of this episode. In the ongoing question of the person you love or beating your enemies -- Eleanor was willing to chose love but Rogers chose war and it got her killed. The show likes to give you what you want but in a way you won't enjoy. LOL! If Jack or Teach had killed her it would've felt like justice for Vane. But her becoming a casualty of war, killed by a random solider who had no real issue with her, hits differently.

Not only that, but she was also pregnant, which makes it even more horrible, and she also was starting to be reasonable again, instead of doing things because of her ego and pride, i was never able to LIKE Eleanor after she killed Vane, but i find her WAAAY more tolerable in S4, less dumb and stubborn, like she was a LOT in S3

A lot of viewers also felt conflicted on how to feel when Eleanor died. They did a good job making us feel bad for her in her final moments.

There are some Lovely bits of foreshadowing in early seasons from characters who make predictions. I won't say which lines to spoil future episodes but Richard Guthrie said to Mr Scott in season 1 right before he betrayed him to Captain Bryson that "She'll get herself killed, either by British musket or Spanish sword." She was always going to die fighting and if not the Spanish then the British. We find in this episode his prediction was correct. I love this show.

Madi easily became one of my favorite characters even though we didn’t meet her until mid-S3, so this episode bummed me out. Poor John is going through it.

What an episode.. like holy moly. Once again the writing shines though, when writers can make you leave you with a mix bag of emotions for someone like Eleanor speaks highly of their talent. I mean I'm speaking to the choir right? Anyway.. so many emotions coming from EVERYONE, but the look on Johns face when he learned of what happened to Madi.. gutted me. Now the one person I have no remorse for is Rogers, you brought the wolves to your door and this is what you get. Victory at any cost is no victory at all. Another episode in the books, and were nearing the end. All I know is the last few are going to be bangers. Till next time!

I didn't feel bad about Eleanor at all. How she treated Max in the beginning of the show. How she handled Vane in the end. I think most shows try to present deaths that are meaningful somehow. Sometimes death is just death. I think Eleanor's was more realistic that way. Some unknown soldier out on the war path just ends her and Madi. No retribution, no redemption, no vengeance, no justice. And then the theme of living with your choices for Rogers. It was senseless and poetic all at once and I thought that was cleverly written.

when you finished this series, you need to react to Treasure Island. Perhaps some people can way in which adaptation to choose. Also you should do a Reaction to Toussaint Louverture.

That was a hilarious comment you had "Invulnerability buff from quake" LOL. I mean that was fairly insane. That guy got MVP for the Spanish basically even though he was clearly an absolute savage. Just kept on fighting and not dying. Yeah def emotional for me watching Eleanor bleed out and then seeing how Flint cant bear to tell her the truth as she lays dying. Then the scene with Flint and Silver. Very emotionally resonant.

Eleanor has always chose her ambitions over her loved ones. She betrayed so many people so she can gain power. In a show full of selfish people, most of them work towards some kind of greater good while getting what they want. She only cared about controlling Nassau one way or another. Now that she finally chose love over ambition, she got a taste of her own medicine.
