I checked a local dealership (20 miles away) and they had several of these units for sale. The lowest priced unit was discounted to about $68,000 which in my opinion is a great price for what you get.

Those front connectors are for battery charging from the tow vehicle. That is how they typically charge them in Australia and elsewhere.

Yep your right buddy, that’s how we charge, red is for dexter/sway control, grey is for alternator charge and black is for in/out house batteries. 🇦🇺🛠🦘

Anyway, as much as you focus on suspension and other “under the trailer” things, a complimentary commentary from you on this trailer is really saying something! I didn’t find any of the negatives to be even close to deal breakers. This is one hell of a nice trailer!! I’ve watched many of those videos they have showing the capabilities of these trailers and they’re very impressive. It’s an amazing looking trailer too.

Getting single key set is easy. Bauer products you can order every lock in same key. My key for water, jack, cargo doors, ramp doors, actual doors, even propane lock, all same key.

I agree on having fewer keys! But by code you can't lock the one compartment with the propane tanks. Pity that the tanks don't have their own dedicated compartment elsewhere so both of those front storage bays could be used for whatever storage you want, plus be locked.

I think that rack in the compartment next to the propane is for 5 gallon jerry cans of fuel, probably diesel fuel for the furnace, but whatever type is there it cannot have a lock either for the same reason.

Again, awesome. It would match my 2500 HD’s clearance almost perfectly and if we ever got matched up…we’ll, that hitch would be needed!!!

They probably don't put locks on the front storage because that could be a safety issue getting to the propane tanks.

A Lock Washer and or Double Nut that bolt on the hitch would be another option. A Pintle Hitch could work good as a replacement for that hitch.

Check your microwave too! They aren’t supported in the back and if left that way it will crack the metal trim and it will fly out in the floor in transit. I pulled mine out and put a spacer in the back of it and added a screw on both sides to hold it better. Easy fix but should have been done better.

Based on the codes and regulations required by RVIA the propane tanks cannot be in a locked compartment, which is probably why the front compartments don't have locks. The tongue jack could stand to have a Fastway Flip Foot on it. The Aussies didn't do all their research in the US market before releasing it.

Very nice review, I agree with going with one or two keys otherwise you have so many your pants will fall down from the weight of the keys! Looking forward to seeing the inside.

I really like these trailers. I dont like the new interiors though. My wife and I are interested in the older one with the grey interior. But man, I am so gun shy based on all the negative reviews. I mean, where do u get it fixed, or even parts?

I don't think the hitch should have a ball as an option. Someone could get the ball because it's easier and then take it off road thinking " I have an off road trailer get into something a little too hairy and decouple the trailer due to neglect . Wouldn't say the hooks are an "upgrade". shackles don't come loose. Hooks, even if stronger have a weak point, the gate Thats why in off-roading closed loops applications are preferred and safer for winching. And if I'm not mistaken some countries can't keep locks on doors that has access to fuels of any type for fire rescue safty

Thanks for the video, I am in the process of purchasing the HQ15. While I agree on the keys for sure, there are a few other items that I don't like such as the fill methods, not actually screwing in a hose etc.. seems odd, but overall love the look, the feel and suspension. I will be insulating the tanks/pipes as I am in Montana and likely will use into the fall where it does drop below 32F overnight, heck that happens in June so ya lol. Gotta do some insulating.

Hi mate I think you will find the air con will work off the batteries for short periods. This is a Ozzy design and it gets hot here.. check out Trip in a Van, Nice family living in a Van (RV. I like the trailer a lot, with the same reservations you have about several items. I do not like that hitch set-up. I would definitely engineer a pintle hook onto it. Thanks for the review.

A nice review. I would guess the white heater door is a replacement for one that was found to be damaged. They didn't have time to make it black. A bolt with a castellated nut and cotter pin should be there to keep it from vibrating lose. Thank you for sharing and have a great day.

The McHitch is a much better hitch for these. I have one on my HQ15. Best upgrade was we replaced the AC with a Houghton AC3400. The biggest problem with the 15 is that it is too small. Really wished we had gotten the HQ19.

How well are the tanks at the back insulated? It looks like this trailer is set up more for hot weather than for cold. You could probably run another nut up on that hitch, two nuts tightened against each other should keep it from getting loose and you wouldn’t have to drill a hole in the bolt.

Built in Australia - their "caravan " rules are much different than the US & Canada. I have seen several Aussie camper posts in RV groups that are way different than our typical stuff.

Can to comment on its 4 season capabilities, no one has talked about it, no one has talked about heated fresh water tank, black or grey? No one has talked about inverter size or batteries types or more solar options. What’s the R factor? Are they made here in the US or imported? Thanks

The Anderson connector is more likely for a dc to dc charger from the tow vehicle than solar connector.

As far as the front propane storage you do not want locks on them. In case you need emergency access to the bottles. Unlike a normal trailer, the shut off outside which if you use locks on the tanks you can shut the valves off. So I don't think you want to put any kind of lock on the doors.

Put a jamb nut on the bolt. Which is simply add a 2nd nut.

Honestly I wish you could work with this manufacturer and do the next gen upgrades maybe the black series All American with all of your suggestions. U.S. standards are different than other nations. Just imagine Airstreadvdoung a joint venture called the Airstream Xtreme, based on this trailer.

Been two years Since this Video was posted any change of thoughts about the Trailer? Reason I ask is there are so many Hate Videos on KZbin about the Black Series Campers…My personal thoughts is that it’s partly manufactured in China and assembled in the 🇺🇸…People may not like that but you can’t hardly get thru a day without using something made in China.

So, Black series has offered to do a very similar evaluation again. They want to provide me a unit indefinitely so I can review it long-term. I've turned down this offer, because I do believe that the quality of their units has gone down especially since COVID. I might change my mind if they can demonstrate the opposite of that, but at this time I cannot recommend their units

Hi mate, I think your find the Aircon run-off the batteries. This is an Aussie design and it gets hot over here. You compared this to a airstream as far as price but honestly I think the closest thing and only by 10% close would be a Outdoors RV as far as off trail use and not off road. IMHO these are nice but, (I don't own a airstream) I feel that airstreams are popular because at some point in time a airstream will plateau in price drop value where i feel these will drop continuously. I wish you had a truck to beat the crap put of this in crawling and give us your thoughts. Call Trail Recon collaborate with his power wagon off road.
