When you spend so long amount the madness it almost becomes the norm. that and pain is relative what Grimm may endure in feature may make him long for time immemorial spent in the crawling ones wonderland. heck he can even say in the stairway conversation with Mabel that he'd make a world to mimic the one the crawler made for him. I like to think all the elder gods loved him in their own way but only Node nd Prickett in the end showed true love by being willing to let go. Node indirectly uses GG to keep the cycles going so she can prolong her time with Grimm. She promised Prickett she'd save him but couldn't bring herself to let go. When Grimm destroys GG, she comes to terms with separation and sacrifices herself to buy him time.

She's been trapped in TCO's garden for a long time now, which implies TCO is likely far more powerful than her. So it's likely TCO wasn't very kind with her when it found out. And if she's meant to be Nodes, then there's no way she can challenge TCO. Then again, I'm not even sure the dev even cares that much about Lovecraft, since if he did, then Mabel could have easily gotten rid of everything, since she's yog sothoth.
