It's a cat. Probably a c-15 or c-16, depending on the year of the truck. The c-16's were discontinued a year or two ago. C-16's were never made with mechanical injection, just mechanical electronic unit injectors. Cat did make v-10's, but the were used as generators. This truck sounds like it has a cam and a pittsburgh power box. BLACKSMOKE HELL YES!

I'll race you with my 1979 ERF tractor unit, when i've got it finished. She's pushing out 1,400bhp and over 2200ft/lb. It'll be on the road later this year, we've aready run it at track and hit 150mph on the straight. And it's still a road legal haulage truck. I may have to ship it to the USA, just to show you!!

They actually pulled the c-16's not only because of emissions, but they tuned the c-15 to do what the c-16 could. It could make the power and torque that the c-16 could and still meet the emissions requirements. In response to the Repping408 question, the left front tire is rising because of all the torque the truck has. This truck is beyond bad ass, I want one for christmas (yeh right)!

I know, I worked on them in the Navy. Gotta remember that some folks don't really associate power with anything other than hp. Friend of mine has a 2000 W900 K.W. that is putting out 850 rewheel hp. with an estimated 2100 lb/ft of torque. Wonder what I should do with my 3406E i've got in my truck.

Met a guy at Rice Hill OR that had a 57 Pete with a Cummins that had twin turbos and produced over 1500 hp. He had a gross weight of 77,500 lbs. I saw the weight ticket (Cat Scale). He pulled onto I-5 and headed south and proceeded to light up all eight drive tires. Heading south out of Rice Hill is uphill. Now that was impressive!

Can you send me some of those videos? Its amazing to see what kind of power these trucks can put to the ground. I work in a truck shop and get to run the dyno, there was one time that I actually had a truck put 5,300 foot pounds of torque to the ground, a little scary, but awesome as hell!!

I actually have seen some pics from Canada's truck races, and there is an older western star w/ the left front about 1 foot off the ground, maybe more. I also have one of a Mack in australia w/ both wheels in the air pulling a heavy load up a steep hill, needless to say gearing was in the double digit range, but the torque of the engine was in the 2,300's i think. (some fuel screw turning was done, as well as other mods)

Although it looks bad, diesel is actually better for the environment for a couple of reasons. It takes less energy in the refining phase to reach "diesel" and second, it does not combust into as many components as does gas!! That's why it's bullshit for the government to have the price as high as it is!! It is the more efficient fuel and cheaper to make, yet they have the price set at well over 4 dollars!! TIME TO VOTE!! OR OVERTHROW!! Nice video by the way!!

He shifted pretty fast so it's hard to tell,but I know that a Pete I drove with an autoshift would jake when shifting so the motor can rev down fast enough to get into the next gear before the truck slowed too much.

i think you can still get a series 60 but its like a volvo version called like an MBE or something. could be wrong though.

true he needed to use the jake to shift, but it sounded as if it were geared so low, he could've skipped one or two of those deep reduction gears and not split em but just go to the next hole in the gear box instead, nice driving though

the point of driving with the jakes on is so the engine will decelerate faster to hit the next gear. im not sure what kind of clutch is in this truck, but they are usually a ceramic dual disc (will hold lots of power unless its worn out). what i want to know is how he tuned the computer for so much fuel! maybe he swapped it out for a mechanical Cat3406 and just used a bigger pump and injectors? I thought my boss's Peterbilt with 600hp (Cat3406E) was high hp!

prob an I-6 CAT. V-10 for truck apps, to my knowledge, are very rarely seen if ever at all. Personally I didnt think they made a V10 CAT. Wonder if that is a C-16, mech injection, didn't know Pitts boxes made them smoke like that

this truck is a race truck fromcanada for thoses who don't know...we race against him at mont laurier in the bobtail categorie and it is pretty quick, both in bobtail and loaded categorie, the only one he can't catch is eric bouchard. motor very turned up, ecm cam injectors etc... at some point we wonder if it was a c-18 cat just like bouchard but not supposed to, real c-15 power wow!!!

Yes it's very hard on the truck to try to pull out from under the trailer like that. Had some hollywood drivers like that. Trucks were always in the shop.

Repping the left front rises because hes on the friction point of the clutch and as the tailshaft turns the wheels after the clutch is let out the power is at the axels so the front twists and rises ... it also happens cause of the weight over the pin . its a power to weight ratio thing . i drive a western star connie 1 month old with a c 15 625 acert in it so i should no

these engines are made from the factory to haul heavyloads, whcih requires a shitload of torque and power. ive personally seen semis with anywhere form 1600-2400HP, and 2500-3400Ft. Lbs of torque.

nope thats an 18 speed with possibly 2.70 to 3.58 gears for the racing they do with the trucks in quebec. realize that the engine hrsepower is up around 1200 hp with the powerband up high than what would be normal for a c-15 or even a 3406E cat.
