if i can give my two cents on Kid and Black Star's fight within the internal investigation arc- i don't think it would've mattered if Black Star could do his Soul Menace attack properly or not. He was *never* supposed to win this fight. Narratively speaking, this is the fight that puts Kid and Black Star's relationship front and center in its core and changes a lot of how Black Star sees Kid from this point in the series forward. before they fight, Black Star is so distraught from his constant losses and blames Kid for this, thinking back to his very first standout loss in the series- his fight with Kid right when Kid first enrolled. Kid is the source of all his frustration, so he takes it all out on him. Kid's role here is to realize what's going on with Black Star's mental state and help ground him again, by agreeing to fight him and try to hopefully help get his head straight. Black Star isn't supposed to win the fight because how will that do him any good in this state? He needs Kid's help. The proof of this directly leads into the arc where Black Star and the others go into the Book of Eibon to save Kid from Noah, and Black Star's the first to volunteer to bring Kid back himself. While he's going down, Black Star thinks back right to that moment where Kid helps him in that last fight between the two of them, stating himself that Kid really did help him and he needs to tell him how much he genuinely appreciated it. This is exactly why I love the dynamic and writing between these two so much. They aren't just rivals, but direct narrative foils that would not work nearly as well without the existence of the other. They help each other grow, they need each other.

I agree that under those circumstances, he never would’ve won the fight But I think RayKk was saying, hypothetically, if Blackstar had the same level of power and skill that he did in that encounter without the mental nerfs, would he win?

Bruh, thank God. ppl still talking about soul eater. I need it to get that Fullmetal alchemist treatment. The anime was good for wat it was still iconic to this day, but when I learned just how much they changed and left out, I started to resent the anime and in time I hate it its on the same lvl as Fullmetal alchemist and promised never land I really hope they come back.

This is absolutely true, Black⭐Star is the strongest in the verse at the end of the manga. However, technically speaking Kid is holding back his Madness of Order power which may or may not make him stronger. My money still on my boy Black⭐Star though

I know it’s out of character but with the madness of order kid should bully everyone in the verse with it (Exect Shikigami, Excalibur, Asura, the great old one, maybe the clowns and Abone too) I honestly think first line of Sanzu would be way too much for black star to deal with. Kid obliterates 8 thousand bats in pretty much an instant, if it wasn’t for Mosquitoes form from 800 years ago I’m confident Kid would have won that fight.

For me the key diference is their weapons.... tsubaki is probably the strongest weapon of all soul eater.... at least the same power as excalibur or even greater. Also Kid could use almost any weapon, but blackstar with his unestable soul can only use tsubaki.
